As another fellow IT person, I recommend HP for service and reliability, in the event that something goes wrong with your laptop.

However, on a personal note, I like Dell's equipment better. Dell has great service and support, as long as you dont' need it.

So, overall, I would have to say "go with HP".

Plus, I don't think that HP is as exclusive with it's replacement parts. Dell's kinda jerky like that. They like to make you buy all your replacement parts and accessories THROUGH them. You can't get a generic knockoff of anything for Dell computers these days.

Good luck

HP. Where I work we have bought Dell for years (I'm talking thousands of computers, not 1 or 2) and have recently dumped them and gone with HP. Dell is not what they used to be. We had big problems with their hardware on more than 1 model and they weren't exactly rushing to take care of the issues. Now I have only been using the HP's for about 7 months, but the hardware does what it says it will and when we have a problem HP is on it right away. Just my personal experience, hope it helps.

I would buy Dell because of the available of parts and ease of repair. Check eBay for a reference. I have an HP laptop and it is so hard to get parts for it, except from the factory. Then you pay an arm and a leg. A 24X DVD-ROM/CD-RW drive from HP to replace the bad one on my laptop costs $680! The same performance drive for a DELL costs $50.

Never again on HP for me!

if it was me i would not get either one i would goto best buy or some other place like that to get one, the reason being if you get a dell or hp all you are getting is the name and there laptops are not any better than what you would buy at wal-mart for half the price. if you want a laptop then look at what wal-mart and best buy and any other place like that and see what they have.

i'm keen on the two HP and Dell, yet truthfully - I sort of like Dell ideal. i've got had the two my Dell laptop and my laptop for sort of four years now without problems... yet then possibly i've got in simple terms been fairly fortunate.
