I believe it's a woman's right to have the choice to abort or not to. HER CHOICE. I believe that it should not be used as a means of birth control - having multiple abortions. But, there are many reasons why a woman might not want to carry a child - and at certain times in her life - it might not be the right time or for a particular reason and she has to make that decision and live with it and ask for God's forgiveness in the matter.

I'm against it because it is a living being and therefore has rights to life. No creature should be killed just because parents don't want it for some reason, but should be put up for adoption for the people that can't have children to get and love and care for. This is my opinon and many of my friends also share it.

The ONLY time I'm ok with it is whenever either the child's life or mother's lives are in danger and not aborting could kill one of them.

HOWEVER...it is not my place to judge other people. I won't judge them if they've chosen to do it. BUT...I had a friend that thought she was pregnant once and was going to abort if she was. I did discuss it with her and I offered to find a way to adopt her baby if she wouldn't have the abortion. She was ok with that because she knows that I care about her and about kids and she thought I'd be a good mom AND...I wasn't forcing my beliefs down her throat. I just made the offer, didn't force her to take it and that's what made her think about it.

She wasn't pregnant, which was actually good for both of us since neither of us were ready for that. However...I was willing to do it.

Here is my story and why I am pro life...
At the age of 17 I got pregnant. I was beaten by my father and told to have an abortion. I refused. I gave birth to a healthy son at the age of 18. I married the father. The father was abusive and unfaithful. I left him. I raised our son alone. So nobody can tell me that it is too hard for a young girl to raise a baby. I did it. So can everybody else with a heart and half a brain. My son is a perfect 28 month old today.

I could have taken the easy way out and had an abortion. I could have killed my baby. But I chose life and I have had the greatest joy of raising my child for the past two years.

The history of abortion is mixed at best.

The Catholic church was for, then against, then for, then against.

Abortion is acceptable as long as people are squeamish about talking about sex and tret women like brood mares.

Why is it OK for a woman to carry to full term a fetus that came from rape?

You say "don't punish the fetus for the circumstances". So it's OK to punish the mother?

Contraceptions does not always work.

If you make abortions illegal, women will still get them, as they have throughout history.

Is infantcide better than abortion?

If we go with this "life is sacred" approach, where does the sacred part come in? We kill people off in great quantities every day, so why is a fetus that more important.

Also, since it is a political football, why is it that if you're pre-born, you're protected, but if you're pre-school, you're screwed? Where is the "sacred" part?

some women cannot take care of the child they are carrying and do not want to adopt their child out, some may have gotten pregnant from a rape of some sort, some may be giving their child some sort of illness, some may be disabled, maybe there is a high risk of the mother dying in labor and will not be around to raise the child, some may be afraid they will physically harm their child or they will be physically harmed themselves.....I am a pro choice person....if someone else is getting an abortion for some reason or another it should be their choice... I mean really what effect is it going to have on your life? if you are condemning it because it does not fit into your beliefs than you are judging another and that is only for god to do,
right?

Some types of abortion ARE NEEDED in order to protect the life of the mother. Why end up killing both mother AND child? Only people that are ignorant would be against ALL types of abortion.

I say abortion is okay under two circumstances.

NO. 1 The pregnancy will be fatal
Why? This should be self explanatory.

NO. 2 The woman was raped
Why? I feel that a woman should not have to live with a pregnancy if it was forced. It is very emotionally painful and can cause the woman to have ill feelings twords the child, not everyone will agree with me saying it is not the childs fault, and I am not saying it is...but I am a rape survivor and know how it feels to be violated like that. I feel that a woman who has been raped has the RIGHT to choose.

I do not believe in abortion although I do believe there are sometimes that it is a choice only if it was a result of rape, if the mother will lose her life if she continues the pregnancy, and if there are major birth defects that the baby has no chance of survival out of the womb. That is the only time I believe a woman has a choice!! That is my opinion and I also respect others views it is not my job to judge others.

Abortion is murder. You had the choice NOT to have sex yet you did it anyway and now you should have to live with the consequinces. If you don't want a baby, give it up for adoption. It's so sad that there are tons of thousands of people who would give ANYthing to have a baby and there are people in this world who just go around killing their babies like it's nothing. A baby shouldn't have to die so that these women can live their lives as they wish.

By the way, I watched that video you put up there....that's one of the most terrible things I've ever seen. I wish people would take it seriously.

I don't have enough energy for this argument today.

And I think if you think that adoption is a fine & dandy way to handle the situation, then you should go out & adopt. If having unwanted children is so great, then why is our foster care system completely overwhelmed? Where are all the great pro-life adoptors? Why don't they step up?

Anyway, like I said, too tired to argue today.
