this planet?
why do some people believe that it would? i feel as though it would just mean that we have not gotten the whole story

TO QUAVER
alright, have youdone the math on how many planetes there are in the universe? the odds in you statistics get much better if you factor that in. plus all the stuff we know about life is based of of our ONE PLANET. this is something that frustrates me about scientists, just because the life that exists on our planet cannot survive other places, doesn't mean no life can exist there. our knowledge of the universe, however elitist the individual wants to feel, is EXTREMLY EXTREMLY LIMITED.
this question is just hypothetical because of the fact that, at this point in time, no one on this earth, unless they are an alien themselves, can prove or disprove the existance of inteligence outside of this world, you really can't just "do the math" to decide

Please consider this as a rough Gage for the existence of intelligent life in the universe. So far we haven't found even the remotest thread of evidence that any kind of life existed on any of our sister planets. In contrast to that, the earth has between 15 million and 150 million species of life and out of these there is only one spspecie that can think in the abstract and plan accordingly. So just looking around us we can deduce how extremely rare the existence of other intelligent life would be.

Thinking about Reality transforms the mind.Reality based thinking is the opposite of faith based thinking. Faith is designed to promote fiction by actively suppressing reality.
Imagen if god came out of the sky, he cant according to philosophy!
If he did right now at this very moment and you saw him, you would not sin anymore, there would only be good in the whole world if there was proof of gods existence. If we could see with are human eyes, proof of god, there would be no sin. I ask you how does this fit in to what gods plan is supposed to be.
Therfore we will not meat are maker if you are into that kind of stuff!

Some people will loose their minds because they will not be able to deal with it. Some people will act in fear and will be too quick to judge, possibly act with violence. AND some will take the chance of embracing a new idea. That is what happens every day on earth Right now, yesterday, and tomorrow.

Faith and Religion would be turned upside down for narrow minded people, who read the holy books for word-to-word and not for its deeper meaning.

P.S. What if there is a solid proof that evolution is a fact (instead of a theory), what would that do to faith and religion?

Why would it be? God created the heavens and the earth so I think it would be a little presumptuous to think that we are the only intelligent form of life in the universe.

Absolutely not for me.
So life is discovered on another planet?
What does that prove?
If you think it would support the possibility that GOD either created other life or there isn't a GOD, it doesn't.
