Most are familiar with the U.S.'s history of bloodshed around the world from Iraq to Vietnam to Chile to Nicaragua.. but even more alarming is the high rate of violence amongst themselves.

The per capita murder rate in the US is staggeringly, almost three time that of the rest of the Western World... a rate they have the dubious distinction of sharing with the likes of Georgia and Uruguay... (SOURCE: Seventh United Nations Survey of Crime Trends and Operations of Criminal Justice Systems - U.N Office on Drugs and Crime, Centre for International Crime Prevention http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/cri_mur_percap-crime-murders-per-capita). At .042 / thousand within the US, the next highest western nation's murder rate is France at .017 / thousand.

How is it that supposed world leader is so out of step with its peers?

Does the United States have any real moral authority on the world stage when their own population is so disfunctional?

Why are Americans killing each other?

I think that it is a mixture of reasons that make the US so violent. It is a set of the right factors of modern civilization taken to the wrong extremes. Freedom, which is very essential to human socities, becomes the very reason that criminals justify their crimes with. Economic prosperity, which is supposed to be the fruit of a sound economy, is replaced by fraud, theft and advantagism, just because money is the language of everyday life. Think, think, think... you will find that every righteousness is replaced by evil of the same nature but to the wrong intent.

Why is this happening? Why 'right' is taken to the 'wrong'? "The love of this life is the head of every sin," said Imam Ali. When people dream about "Heaven on Earth" and forget God's Heaven, you would expect even the righteous to become more devilish than Satan. The USA is just that "Heaven on Earth" that is corrupted by earthly needs. People have to think about the Hereafter to realize how stupid it is to commit any crime in this life.

Oh, please give me a break about this "bloodhed around the world" crap. Unfortunately, the truth is that being a global superpower means everyone expects us to protect them. Most of Europe was for the invasion of Iraq, but do not posess the resources themselves like we do.

What country are YOU from? My guess is yours has been in some wars or "bloodshed" too. World War II perhaps?

As to murders, that is a subject I do agree with you on. It's a ridiculous problem, there's no real answer. Lots of people think there's an answer, but it's not that simple. There's probably hundreds of variables involved.

nicely, maximum international places have a history of violence, and rather, the US isn't as undesirable as some. I recommend, there changed into the undesirable dealings with slavery, yet maximum international places have had that at one factor or yet another. we've under no circumstances killed our selves for failing at some thing like they used to in Japan. They sacrifice people in South American international places. Australia changed into once a reformatory web site for criminals. we've under no circumstances systematically killed off all of us for there beliefs (as an finished u . s ., yet there are continuously radicals like the KKK). for my section, i imagine that reckoning on the crime, the demise sentence is the only thanks to bypass, ie, molesters, rapists, murderers, etc. And guns? you may want to easily listen the liberal area of it... =) guns are thrilling for capturing skeet, for searching, etc. i have been a member for the nationwide Rifle association for a lengthy time period now, and that i have not lengthy gone whacko and killed absolutely everyone- and the individuals who surely connect the NRA are not those you want to be stricken about. it surely relies upon of the guy retaining the gun. So, i do not imagine united states is truly all that violent.

I dunno, that there's any one single answer to that. It is, in a roundabout way, written in their constitution that they can kill one another. It was excercised in their civil war. That was then, now I think it may just be a mind set. Accepted that it may happen and it's better to hit first than risk possibly getting hit. Defensive in nature. Actually, a good example can be found in some of jzwigger's posts. He is assuming a defensive stance and striking out at anything he feels may be threatening, even if it's benign. Kinda like shooting the cat before it scratches. There you go, he's proof of my answer :)

Its not.

We are one of the few countries who have a sound infrastructure to truly analyze.

Do you think Venzuela really has a solid human affairs structure to analyze such a topic?
