I think that the quote should more accurately read "The love of money is the root of all evil". There is nothing evil about money itself, money does a lot of good. There are many people who have money and who use it to help out everyone. Problems just start arising when people start becoming obsessed with money. That is when they start pushing all morals aside and doing whatever it takes to get more money no matter how many people they hurt along the way.

Yes, there are givers who have morals and would like the world to be a better place by caring for their fellow man. Takers on the other hand take whatever they can and don't think about the consequences. They can't stop even when they know they have more then enough money, land, gold or whatever they think makes them rich. Rather sad but money (greed) makes people do many bad things. That doesn't mean everyone with money is bad but most bad people feel they never have enough and they have no problem taking someones property or hurting someone to accumulate more money.

Generally, I think when people think of this saying, they really mean that greed must be the trunk. Money is just the beginning. Just the root. We need money to survive, but once those simple transactions grow out of proportion, they can become something ugly. Moderation, then, would seem to be the force that might keep the root a root.

"The Love of money is the root of all evil." Money like almost everything we touch is a tool. Humans are the greatest users of tools on the planet. Tools are neither good nor evil. It is how we use them that creates good and evil. When will man take responsibility for himself and not blame inanimate objects or other living creatures for the woes of the world.

Money is not the root of evil. Money is just a materialistic entity. Greed is the human instinct and 'evil' is also an instinct. So evil cannot be assosciated with money. Hence "Greed" is the root of all evil.
Good luck.

Money is society's compensation for a people's labor ; the means of exchange and a system where it allows us to buy the goods that we need for our basic needs and other indulgence. It is the "Abuse" of money that is the root of all evil!!!! The lack of money pushes people to commit crimes against people and property but still money just happenend to be incidental. The evil is in what people are willing to do to have it or in how people handle money.

Actually I think "Body" is the root of evil... Money is just a media in today's world. It's your "body" who needs all the things. "Body" wants to feel good, wants to eat, wants to sleep, wants shelter...etc. If the "body" doesn't get satisfied (Unfortunately, most of the "wants" can only be bought by "money"), "evil" deeds are born.

Think about that.

I like money. Hey! You have more money than me! I'm gonna kill you and take that money!

That's what they mean when they say money is the root of all evil.
