The last anyone knew he was living in New York. Maybe.
He did agree to a radio interview on a local PBS station there last year. With no photos allowed, of course.
It really isn't important to me where he lives or what he looks like to me. Either you like his writing or you don't.

Pynchon is well-known to avoid media interaction or allow his photograph to be taken by the media. Up until the 1990's, it was suspected he divided his time between Mexico and northern California (the setting for his novel, "Vineland"). However, in the early 90's he married his literary agent, and it was confirmed that they live in New York City. In 1998, he was tracked down and photographed walking his son by a reporter for the Sunday Times of South Africa. It is the only known photograph of Thomas Pynchon in the last 40 years.
