Duh...yes....Bush is just stupid.
Cheney, on the other hand, is making certain people/companies a lot of money as he orders G.W.B. to start unconstitutional and illegal wars in countries that have lots of OIL swimming under their sand. Cheney wants it all for him and his buddies at Exxon Mobil and Halliburton so they can get richer and richer and richer, regardless of the cost in human lives. Humans, after all, are dispensable.
As Rumsfeld once said at a press conference when asked about the deaths of innocent people and U.S. soldiers in Iraq:
"STUFF HAPPENS". What a really sensitive, compassionate kind of guy! -RKO-

Most people don't know the facts about stem cell research, so they don't know what they are supporting.
1) It is NOT the governments job to fund medical research. This is an area that is the responsibility of private industry.
2) Stem cell research has not had a single success. There is no proof that this will work. There is not a single cure or vaccine on the horizon. What is the point of funneling OUR tax dollars to a program that not only is not the governments purview, but doesnt' work and isnt entirely ethical?
3) Adult cell research HAS had successes. Instead of promoting a stab-in-the-dark, why not concentrate on something that is actually proven to have possibilities?

Bro- let's hit this one from a logical point.
First Bush doesn't support the killing of tens of thousands of innocent lives in Iraq. Currently his office is trying to stave of civil war. Don't for one second discount the Democrats role in this war as they supported it to.
Second- Learn more about the bill that was vetoed. It doesn't outlaw stem cell research only federal funding of such programs.
Third- This is the first Conservative move he has made in six years.
Fourth- BOTH parties are controlled by special interest groups.

When you blame BUSH ( or any President) for all economic things, all you are doing is showing your lack of knowledge about how our government is run.
Our President's job is to work with the 500+ knuckleheads who make up our Congress to try to get rules, regulations and laws enacted that will help the people live better and peacefully.
Whether or not General Motors makes good cars or a lot of them has nothing to do with the Presidency except where it dumps hundreds of employees into the unemployment lines. When that happens he can make a few telephone calls and see if there is some way to reverse the incident.
He has another job and that is to review the work of Congress and sign the bills they send to him,..IF HE AGREES WITH THE BILLS. When we elect a President we give him that authority; if we do not want him to have that authority we should not elect him.
The reason the President has war-making Powers is because the Congress would take five years of discussion before they made up their minds about defending the country. You should know that you can seldom get anything done when it is being done by a committee. Imagine trying to get something done when it has to pass through a Congress the size of ours.

I certainly don't see him as brain trust material, but he seems to be an idealist in some respects.
I disagree with his stance on stem cell research, detaining people without due process in cuba, and fiscal policy. However your assertion about killing 10's of thousands of "innocent" people in is specious.
From a "religious right" point-of-view, his actions are relatively consistent. From that perspective it is the protection of INNOCENT human lives that matters; that means the unborn and US residents. It is easy to question the innocence of (innocent) citizens who reside in areas that tacitly or actively support terrorism. By defining anyone who opposes the US military as a terrorist or collaborator with terrorist one can remove the "innocent" tag from them and begin to treat them as less than human.
At the same time, the right see an embryo as a an unborn, innocent, human being rather than a collection of specialized living cells. I have no doubt that his position on this topic is one of moral grounds, not monetary interests.
Extremists on the left and right both see evil, hate, and conspiracy in every action of the other camp. If they would simply view the other side as being sincerely misguided I think we'd all be better off.

Support your number that 3/4ths of Americans support stem cell research. this is a very volatile isue with strong opinions on both sides. Obviously you feel your opinions are the most important but I would feel confident n saying you can not support your figures.
mymadsky has it right and demonstrates the problem with most liberal voters in this country. They allow themselves to hear, believe and tell the facts the way they want them to be. Outlawing stem cell research and denying federal funding for stem cell research are two entirely different things.

I am in shock too. I don't know if you have been watching Colbert Report or Daily Show on Com. Central (8 and 8:30 EST) -- it's been kind of funny. One of those things -- you're better off laughing at him (since he is the "decision maker" -- I know - he told us this). Stem cell research can help SOOO many people!!! It is absurd - he makes me ill. I don't understand. Everytime I see him all I can do is shake my head!!

Mike, I couldn't agree with you more. Why is there no discussion in the media of these hypocrosies. I think Bush believes he is our moral Ayatollah as Senator Harkin mused yesterday. How can we condemn others invading sovereign nations, i.e. Israel by Hezbollah when that is just what we did to Iraq?
