I think 12 is a little too young because she may be still learning about what it takes to be in a relationship, what is a relationship, and she may especially still be learning about peer pressure. The pressure to have sex, and the consiquences of sex are some of many things you should already know before beginning in a relationship with someone.

Your sister is definatlly too young to go on a date with her boyfriend. Never ever bring up what your parents did and when.
You mom might of gotten her first kiss at 14 but most likely she wasn't on a date.
Besides is one generations faults suppose to be repeated? no
Not fair to bring up what anyone else has done-. So lets STOP comparing. This is about your sister and nothing else pertains to it.
Your parents might seem unreasonable to you. But, they ARE the parents, and THEY are the Boss. They love their children and they make decisions after they have thought things through. They take into account many things before that make a decision.

13 is even too young to date. It should be ok if your sister and her bf are with a group of kids where your parents know that it is a good place to be.

I know at 13 a young woman feel like she is ready to have a boyfriend. It is time to start slowly and with caution. There will be many many years ahead to have boyfriends. You and your sister's job right now is to get educated for life. Only then will you be ready to make serious decisions about men in your life.

Your parents right now are respoinsible for leading their children in a way that they become good young adults who will be able to financially and emotionally become adults.

Your parents just don't want to see your sister becoming an adult before she is prepared to. You might not understand your parents, but they truely love you and want the best for you.
If they didn't care they would let you and your sister run wild.

Be patient, you can't even imagine how many years you have ahead of you to datel Make it your goal to get a good educated so that when you are ready to be all on your own you will be sucessful- support yourself, feed yourself, and make desisions and dating.

Hang in there, the years will fly by...

The are being very resonable. 12 is way way too young to even think about having a boyfriend.

A 12 year old is a child, and children should not be dating. A 12 year old child does not have the mental maturity to even comprehend what "dating" is and from your question niether do you. Let your parents handle your sister.

12 is too young to date. There is little or no sense of responsibility, accountability, moral or ethical structure in their lives. They are easily swayed by emotion and tend to "follow the crowd" instead of lead.

There frankly is too much temptation "out there" for a 12 year old to be on a single date with any boy. Your parents are being reasonable. Maybe the boy could come over and visit with parental supervision.

Is that grade seven? I think once started hightschool it shoiuld be okay. but parents are always worried for their little girls that are growing up..

Maybe have rules like they can only go out if there with a couple of friends. or nevr past 8:30 or always know that they aren't doing anytrhing they shouldn't be doing. do u know the guy, does he seem nice, and not an 16 year old pig that just wants her to do him favors..

Your parents are not being unreasonable. At 12 even 13 your sister should be enjoying her childhood. Not worring about dating. She should be going out in groups not alone with a boy. Please ask her to slow down because she will be old enough to date soon. You grow up to fast, so why push it.

Not at all. You can't expect independence just because you are old enough to have hormones dictate your behavior. If you ask me (and you did), listening to parents at such a naive age as 12 is very wise. Saved a lot of trouble and heartache in the long-run.

They are probably right but today kids are dating at 12 soooo really if she is mature and he is like 12 or 13 she should be fine.I am also 12 and are having people tell me I should not. Tell your parents that you will double date with your sister..if it is ok with your sister...they may reconsider.
