It's not just rich families either. I've seen girls from all places try and act that way. It's sad, really how they're not even comfortable in their own skin that they have to act the way they do.

Well, look at MTV and all the other sources of new and cool things. It's hip and trendy to act ghetto. It's easy to be ghetto when you are safe in rich-people-ville.
Have you ever seen the movie "White Boyz"? It's a trip. These guys from Iowa dream of the day when they go to the hood, until they actually get there........I won't ruin it for you, but let's just say, it's not a glamorus place.

That is something that has bothered me forever.
These kids try anything to emulate the "ghetto" life.
First, don't they realize it is SO not cool?
The people who really live in the ghetto would do anything to get out of there!
I'd like to drop their a$$es off in the inner city projects overnight with no money and no cell phone and see how long they last.

Maybe cuz nobody likes them, so they think that will make them cool, or maybe cuz they like black guys so they wanna get their attention by acting that way, dressing that way, driving cars that will attract the black men, or maybe just cuz they don't have anything better to do.
Besides that..... I am puerto rican and white and my daughters father is black/ white. I was never rich, nor did I act like something I wasn't to get him! Thanks for posting this though cuz I see a lot of it goin on.

Trying to shock and rebel, same reason rich white suburban girls became "hippy Chicks" in the 1960's or "Punks" in 1970's or even "flappers" in the 1920's.

First off, define black....how does one act "black"? thats a bit racial dontcha think? I know a lot of black people who act very composed and in a decent manner. If you are referring to the way that uneducated trash acts then yea....some girls do that in order to gain attention, usually its negative...I think its equally spread though between guys and girls...Why do people dress goth, or skater, or redneck? These are all high school stereotypes...Im just curious as to which one are you......

people adapt to the people around them. You start acquiring their ways of doin things. I think that's a good thing.. helps with understanding and accepting different cultures.
