There are a lot of rumors about a handheld version of the xbox, especially since one of the developers of the xbox was reassigned to a "portable" project. However, it's been speculated they were / are / might be working on a microsoft version of the ipod as opposed to a handheld game system...

I think I saw a story about it on Ign.com's website...
