Well, I'm known for how much I detest the cold; but yeah, I'd do it. If the price was right or if I found the purpose in going there interesting, worthwhile or valuable. I'd do it to experience it. I might even do it for the view of the stars. Shoot, how many people can say they've been there, after all? You'd be joining a pretty elite group.

I would love it. I'm stay inside most of the time anyway and love being alone. I could study the stars and the animals (few though they may be) and do whatever I could for the scientists who work there. It would be an awesome experience and I would carry it with me the rest of my life.

Antarctica is colder than Alaska. It is ice covered land, not floating ice. Much harder than you would imagine, even in the modern facilities there. Certainly, you would need the 4 times salary.

Only if I was being paid more money than I would otherwise earn in 2 years. Four times my income would be enough to compensate me for the time away from the sun.

You bet I would! I lived in Alaska and am curious about the antarctic. I know the weather conditions well! I'd do it purely for the purpose of learning!
