Islam is a religion that follows the teachings of the Prophet Mohammed. Muslims believe that the word of God came down to Mohammed and was recorded in the Qu'ran, the holy book of Islam. There are five pillars, or practices, in Islam, which all Muslims are required to do. They are; Prayer five times a day, the giving of alms to the poor, making a trip to the Hajj (a holy site where Mohammed destroyed the idols of false gods), fasting (this is done during the season of Ramadan where Muslims abstain from eating, amoung other things, during daylight hours) and the most important, The Bismallah, or the beilf that there is no God but God and Mohammed is his messenger.
Like other religions, Islam has influenced the culture in parts of the world where it is practiced, namely the Middle East, South East Asia and Northern Africa.

What is the aim of this question? As everyone knew Islam is a religion, but it is the latest of Holy Religions what based on one GOD belief! Islamic belief has 6 definite rules, and islam has 5 definite rules. The very first of definite provision to accept there is only one GOD! And the second Muhammed is his latest prophet. look, i think islam is a great religion..
i don't care what the terrorists that call them selves 'muslims' do to make islam as a black religion in the eyes of the other nations..
actually, what these people do doesn't have even a small relationship with islam's acts..
i really believe that islam is the relgion of peace and love..

To be a Muslim, one must profess a belief that there is one God and Muhammed is His prophet. Along with that comes the responsibility to try to follow the five pillars of Islam: prayer, fasting, almsgiving, making a pilgrimage to Mecca, and the aforesaid belief in one God.
