You bet. I spent 3 1/2 months there and enjoyed almost every nanosecond. I've got a friend who's wintering over there even as we speak. I worked as a drilling assistant. She's a store person. Mostly the money's good. It's comfortable. They give you the right gear and accommodation. The food is excellent. But most of all, they're mostly nice, interesting people and you meet all these interesting specialists who like to show you the work they're doing. If you get a chance to go, take it. Take millions of photos and write a diary.

Absloutely! See what the scientists are doing on the cutting edge of biotechnology. Survive a 60 below winter? Be away from so many annoying Americans for awhile? Maybe scuba dive under the ice. See the penguins! Keep me in mind!

that's a pretty interesting question. I'd love to spend time down in Anarctica... that would be absolutely amazing! Of course, I dunno how well I'd be able to tolerate the cold, especially since I've never been in anything lower than like the mid-30's (thank God for Florida winters!) and I've never seen snow. But that would be an experience of a lifetime! I'd go just for the experience - new places, new faces, new climate, and for the chance to photograph the wildlife & the terrain.

I would do it simply for the once in a lifetime experience, it would be such an amazing thing to see the landscape and just how different it is. Not many people ever get the opportunity to go.

I am fascinated by scientific research and would like to stay there as an experience of my life. Unfortunately my scientific qualification wasn't high enough to get that challenge when I was young.
But I would do it even as a slave for some research guy to assist him/her with their experiments .... and if they are not to pretentious also as their cook.

Hell yeah. Preferably as a wildlife photographer but I would do just about anything for 6 months to experience that.

Did they tell you that you could only leave if you found your own replacement?
No, I wouldn't. And for the same reason, as cool as 'Space' is, I have no wish to visit Mars. I don't even like camping in places where there IS enough air to breathe.

Six months??? No way. I've got more important things to do with my life...like earn income to support my family. Well, okay, I'll do it for four times my annual salary as long as my boss agrees to hold my current job for me. And in that case I don't really care what they make me do as long as it isn't dangerous.
