Take up some hobbies and sports. Keep yourself active, so you don't sit around thinking about food.
Stay away from the TV and all the ads that promote snacks.
Try to have some controlled portion foods on hand that you can snack on (carrot sticks, small sized diet puddings, etc.). Fill your plate at mealtime just once, going heavier on the veggies and lighter on the other stuff.
Then you won't have to give up food entirely. It's just not possible unless you are planning to starve to death.

Figure out why you are eating.. you should only be eating when you are hungry. If you eat because you are bored.. keep busy. If you eat because you are emotional.. deal w/your problems.

Keep your teeth busy. Chew gum. This works for me. And drink lots of water. Water makes you feel full. Keep that feeling so you won't want to eat.

move to antartica. Just kidding, sort of. Don't watch TV or at least the commercials. They make you hungry when you aren't. Try to keep your hands and mouth busy like chew gum, squeeze a stress ball.

Lock yourself in a cupboard... lol... Just try and keep really busy, and when you get hungry drink a glass of water.
