I have heard that there have been the odd problem with the husk fibres from the coconut in it, but only the same sort of risk as sphagnum moss. I do use it as a bedding for my Tarantula and Snake though.

A the zoo i work at we have a leapord gecko. Might I add he is very healthy. We use sand, but i beliece its calci-sand. Yes it can be impacted if they eat the sand, this is the reason for demobilizing crickets, mealworms, ect. If you put the food in the bowl and the food can't climb out then your gecko has no reason to eat the sand there for nothing will be impacted and you will have a healthy and happy gecko with a nice looking cage. If you need any more help feel free to email.

In the description it says it increases humidity, in which case I wouldn't get it. You COULD use it in to put in a shedding box for the gecko though. It helps them to shed if they have a humid space to shed it, but in general too much humidity is supposedly not good for leopard geckos. I bought a bag of Repti Sand for my leopard gecko. On the bag it says that it is safe for leopard geckos but now I am hearing that all granular substrates should be avoided even if they claim to be safe due to the risk of impaction (the gecko eats the sand and gets an internal blockage). I know people who use shredding paper towels in their enclosers. Please check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leopard_gecko for some detailed info. Hope it helps! Enjoy your new gecko, they're great!

Dont use any lose substrate for leopard geckos unless in the humid hide.Use soemthing like repti-carpet,paper towels, newspapers, pretty much nothing indigestible because it can get caught in the intestines(impaction)
impaction- constipation to 100 %

i do not comprehend if it truly is an fantastically good theory...they could ingest it. Plus it holds numerous humidity. Eco earth is often more effective for tropical species. i'd keep on with the cage carpet, paper towels, or very very very positive grain sand. i wager you may want to positioned eco earth down and positioned a sturdy layer of the sand on proper of it. yet they could dig it up.

I use eco earth with my leopard gecko aswell as my tokay geckos. I keep it moist for my tokays but i keep it dry for my leopard gecko. I dont find it dusty and its perfectly digestible. For my leopard geckos moist hide box(tupperware container with hole cut in side), i keep that filled with moist spaghnum moss so he can choose if he wants humidity or not.
