I don't understand when people, guys especially, say soccer is gay. What is so gay about it?

american football is a joke.
they all wear protective gear..soccer players just have shin guards.

so soccer is gay and football isnt? well well well, i dont see soccer players running around in nut-huggers groping their teammates... and hows this? youre bending down... holding a ball in your hands between your legs and theres a guy behind you breathing into your asshole. hows THAT not gay???

It's gay as in lame as there are too many diving faking injury metrosexual types in it. Somehow soccer lost its way in the '90s. Up to then it was a pretty exciting sport with goals and tough guys who didn't whine to refs about hangnails.
In ALL sports played in North America, Australia or New Zealand, you be a man! When you're injured you get up, suck it up and walk off. You better have a broken bone because no stretcher is coming out for you, pretty boy.
Plus just because soccer players wear only shin guards does not make them tougher. I challenge you to actually play "American" football (or "Canadian" football) in full pads and tell me afterwards..oh, yeah, I'd love to play that game without pads...You'd be in pieces.
Personally, you need to compare gay boy soccer players to Aussie Rules footy players. Now those guys are tough.

You call it "soccer", so I'm sure you're American. Or Australian.
The basic rule is the usual team sport(s) children are playing is the right one. Unusual ones are "girly", "sissy" sports. In Europe, Mexico, South America, Africa, the main team sport is football. USA and AUS enjoy other sports.
In Italy a youngster playing basket or volley is "out of the bunch" and he's easily addressed with harsh comments. Children usually call "gay" a child/boy having unusual behaviors - i.e. playing "girly" sports as well as enjoying "ballet dance"...
Of course, a child have to grows... some have their physical growth but not the mental one, and a childish attitude remains in their adult life, i.e. thinking "gay" is an insult.
You can easily spots it out as many football players aren't gays and have stunning beatiful girlfriend or wives (check Figo's and Kerembeu's wife on the web...)
Anyway, I'm not concerned at all with players sexual habits.
About physical performance, Ihave to say:
1. Some "macho" sports as American Football (rugby) aren't highly demanding. They play 25" to breack 5'.
2. Basketball is the team sports more demanding in physio attributes, but there isn't any contact - fight - tackles. Football seems more rude.
3. Volleyball can't have any contact (and in Italy is desrved as the main "girly" sport).
About diving in football... not so sure ... Americans were crying after one player was bleeding by an injury... however the best diver I remember (Greg Louganis)

3. Was a GREAT athlete in my opinion and I'm not concerned about his sexual habits.
Take a life. Improve your childish habits.

I think people have this opinion because way to many people play soccer. A lot of people at my school do. Some people just want to be different , so they stay away from soccer. They dont want to play what everyone else does. plus, at my school, most kids play games like football and Rugby, so Soccer seems a little wimpy after that. Everyone has their different opinions about sports though.

i love football but here in the states i heard a lot of complaining with the diving in the world cup. American football players are use to a collision sport and don't realize that soccer is still a contact sport.

not every person, but Americans are the ones that think is gay, look at the rest of the world, they love soccer, Americans say that because they are used to seing football,

'round here soccer isn't gay, and every parent wishes for his son to become best football (soccer) player ever, that's why nearly every guy has trained football (soccer) for at least a while...
And every moment they can spare they go out with the boys to play it... Or play it on PlayStation...

Because the players fall down and act hurt. If they played American football, they would find out what a real hit is.

Thats obviously a comment made by some dumb american lads.in england,we have a game called `rounders` which only girls play and baseball is a copy of it.rugby is a physically harder game,it`s like your `football` but without all the pathetically lame safety gear.

people may think that soccer is "gay" cause theyre ignorant. they know nothing about the game and are so close-minded that they dont even want to learn anything about it. they call it "gay" cause they are so insecure about themselves and their sexuality that they cant understand why the guys hug at the end....people who think things are "gay" are way too hung up on being some big macho idiot.

soccer is the most popular game in the world...while football only in the states....soccer needs more fitness than football...it is a very rough game....people who never played it call it gay
