Definitely better to have a job you like! Why? Because if you don't like your job, you'll "***** and moan" about it, and eventually your performance will suffer because you won't care anymore.
But if you like what you do, you're happier and will do a better job because you like it.
Now of course you do have to balance the two in order to live. Doing a job you love but doesn't pay enough to make ends meet isn't the ideal. But taking a job you hate that pays super well is also not the ideal. So you have to find a middle ground, something you like somewhat and pays enough. Or multiple jobs you enjoy more, yet pay less.
Regardless, money doesn't mean happiness.

It's better to strike out on your own. Long-term it's the best thing to do. Let's say you found 'that' job where you are really happy. In today's economy, that doesn't mean a lot. A person could be downsized, fired, outsourced, etc. The same goes for a job that 'pays well'. Do some brainstorming. Come up with some ideas where you would be happy and also be able to support your family.

It depends on whether doing what you like will give you a severe pay cut or just a small cut. Obviously, if you are happy at work, but you don't have money to pay your bills, you will not be happy. Take your time to find something new that you may like and that also can support your family.

Get a job that pays well and start liking it. This is true. The first time I tasted beer I disliked its bitter taste. Gradually, I got used to it. I love chilled beer when it was hot weather. There is nothing a like or dislike. It is all in the conditioning of our mind. This technique can be developed and is a great tool for contented and happy living.

I don't have a family but I would rather have a job that I like than a job that pays well.

A job you like makes you happy and if your happy you'll be successful. If something that will have a salary that will fit your budget and you'll be happy at. Try to set up a savings for your living expenses so you can do what you want and still be by.

Been there. I opted to run a home business at the same time as working full time. With this I was creating leverage and residual income. I totally love what I do as it helps people every day and is a very strong market.
If you are running a business you love and working at it a bit each day, it really doesn't take long to replace your current income and you get tax advantages as well. It is very doable to reach the $64K mark in less than a year.

My opinion, I'd rather have a job I enjoy cause if I had a job I didn't enjoy but got paid good I'd still have to put with the fact that I'd have to be here everyday and I wouldn't like that. But, then again everyone had their own thoughts. I'd advise you to keep looking there has to be something you enjoy out there with good pay. Good luck!

Take the job that pays well for a few yrs., then you'll have the dough to start your own wee business in whichever line will make you happy.

A job you like that pays well? Lol
I think it's better to have a well paying job... Work is to get money not to socialise really... But if it makes you seriously unhappy then obviously change.
