The first French player to be sent off in World Cup finals was Zindine Zidane, in the First Round match against Saudi Arabia on 18 June 1998 and Zidane in the 2006 wc but we still love him. he is the best.

FRANCE appeared in the first ever FIFA World Cup final when they hosted the tournament in 1998. In the final, they defeated the defending champions at that time, BRAZIL 3-0 of which the goals was scored by Zinedine Zidane (2 goals) & Emmanuel Petit.
Marcel Desailly was the first French player to be sent off in the final & the third player in the FIFA World Cup history.
