Beach Boys...love them

The Beatles had the musical genius of John Lennon and Paul McCartney.....the Beach Boys had the musical genius of Brian Wilson. The Beatles songs have been performed by more people since the Beach Boys songs tend to be more complex and appealling to a more specific audience and haven't been recorded by as many different people. The Beach Boys stayed together a lot longer than the Beatles though. Actually, the BB are my favorite American group of all time. I can't say the Beatles are my favorite British group. As a result, the Beach Boys win by a hair.

Gee, this is one tough call!

Obviously, the Beatles amassed an even greater amount of hit records than even the Beach Boys. But, on the other hand, the Beach Boys have kept going to this day, whereas the Beatles called it quits 36 years ago! Both groups had meaningful lyrics, impeccable harmonies, unforgettable melodies. The Beach Boys were the BEST America had to offer, musically, in the '60s, and the Beatles were certainly (arguably) Britain's most successful & popular of ALL!!!

This is like apples & oranges; there IS no comparison between these two LEGENDARY bands! BUT - on the basis of who was MOST influencial, worldwide; the sheer MAGNITUDE of hits, albums, and screaming, hysterical FANS - I'd have to give it to the Beatles. "BEATLEMANIA" dominated the pop music scene back then; the Beach Boys' appeal WAS widespread, but in general, the "surf scene" was not quite so big as the "merseybeat sound".

The Beatles...although it says something for the Beach Boys when the Beatles felt inspired to innovate on Sergeant Pepper because of Pet Sounds.

The Beatles!!!!!!

I would equate the Beach Boys along with the Bee Gees. Really good, but
not as multi talented as the Beatles. The Beatles defined a generation.
