There are legal and social benefits. According to the United States' Government Accountability Office, there are slightly over one thousand federal laws that treat married people differently from single people.
Socially, it is still considered more responsible and committed to make it legal, and it can help you advance in your career since corporate America considers a married person more stable. For people who are religious, there are moral reasons for marriage, as well.
As a person who dated the same man for 11 years and then married him, I can tell you that it is more than "a piece of paper." Your mindset actually changes and you tend to take things a little more seriously, at least my husband and I did. It solidifies a union and you tend to feel more protective of the relationship and each other.

One would hope that they Marry for a number of reasons. One being that they really love each other and that they want to be with each other. The world will tell you that if it doesnt workout you can always Divorce. That would be the easy way out. Being a Family is very important and getting married should never be taken lightly. Like anything thats worth having, it take alot of work, time and energy. Good luck

Because (in the US, at least), though there is a net tax penalty for couples who just get married and do nothing else, but if you are willing to do a little extra work you can use marriage to reduce your tax burden. If one spouse works a regular salaried job, and the other runs their own "sole proprietorship", under current tax law you can still file jointly and write any losses the business has off against your joint income. The only way this can fail is if the business takes off and makes big bucks, and that's a problem we all want!

some people actually get married because they love each other and want to spend the rest of their lives together. but some people use it as an alternative to dating they skip that whole part and go straight for the marriage. marriage just isn't what it used to be....now it's just something that people do for fun. well at least it seems like that. it seems like girls marry the wrong guys just so that they can have their day where they are the princess. ever seen bridezilla....i wonder why some guys would marry those girls. they are evil.

i could not imagine how terrible it must be to have that dream wrenched out of your carry close. i'd be devastated. yet i imagine an before man or woman had a tremendous theory about a small registry wedding ceremony and then a huge vow renewal - yet completely like a wedding ceremony. yet when what you actually favor is the completed large wedding ceremony day and vows at the same time, i wager all you may do is placed it off. possibly have some very particular "date" days the position you may be at liberty only being mutually someplace positive. it ought to help you experience extra proper about it interior the recommend time...

I got married because I feel head over heels with my bestfriend, lover, and companion.
I always thought that the line in the vows where they say you become one person joined together-was complete crap until I had been married for awhile.
He is so much apart of me but I have still managed to become a stronger person for it.
We bring the best out of each other; and he is the only person that can make me laugh when I am truly pissed off

1. Most people get married because they love someone and they want to spend the rest of their lives together.
2. Some people get married because it is a sin to have sex before marriage.

I wanted to honor God's word about it.
There are certain benefits to be married even if you do not believe in God. Tax benefits, insurance benefits...
Also many people want to make a bigger commitment to each other...sometimes children's sake, sometimes social life's sake.
I would want to say that people get married for love. Love for the Lord. Love for the spuse. I think love is the reason.

It is a very good question and a valid one too to ask..
Most will marry for love. They want to share their lives and their hearts with someone, because it makes them very happy when they know someone feels the same way that they do and about them.
Some will marry for wanting to raise a family. It's only natural and human nature to want that.
the ones that marry for money and their own selfish needs, keep the divorce rate climbing... Now that is scary!
