I have been on the contraceptive pill for about 6 months now. I hate having periods so recently i have been continously been taking the pill so to avoid them. However, i have skipped taking the pill for a day or so because i forgot to take it. Now, I am getting a monthly period AND discharge the entire time. This is making me very depressed, what can i do?
Plz dont say 'come off the pill' coz that might not make any difference right away!!

Have you consider going on the depo shots? Maybe that can help you.

I'm sorry to tell you what you already know...but you need to come off the pill right away to stop the uncontrolable bleeding.

This will allow your body to return to it's normal 'body clock'. If you come off the pill today, your period should last as long as your normal period anyway , 4 or 5 days, but the advantage is that you'll have a normal cycle again, and you won't have that annoying spotting!!! (bleeding in between periods)

Once you come off the pill, you'll find that you'll actually feel better emotionally and mentally ( and you'll eat less lol!). And this will eleviate some of your depression. Remember one of the side effects of taking the pill is depression.

Menstruating is very annoying, especially when it interferes with holidays or your sex life, etc. There is no physical or medical harm from taking pills to avoid your period, when you're going on holiday,etc...but you'll find that in the long run it'll be more beneficial to come to terms with menstruating.

Part of maturing and becoming a woman is gracefully accepting all that comes with it...good and bad...

At the end of the day....

...you're a women....

................You're Beautiful...........

Why don't you just TRY Depo Provera? You will hear many rumours about it but everything is different once you try it yourself. The shot is safe and you shouldn't use it for more than 4 years (it decreases the density in your bones). I am on the shot and have been for the past two years, because like you I didn't wanna have a period. And I didnt, the only thing I get is a couple days of spotting. I get the spotting at the end of my three month shot dosage you get it every three months. Not too shabby. I didn't gain weight but I did watch my food intake other then that everything was cool that was my experience though you gotta try it yourself. Unless your allergic to whats in it but its ok.

What kind are your pills-3 weeks on then one week of "sugar pills"? You can't just continuously take them to avoid a period. Don't know how old you are but you might ask your doctor about a pill called provera-it is designed to "stop" periods-HOWEVER-this did NOT work for me. But you definately need to get back on a regular schedule with the pill-and don't skip them either! SKip more than one-I think it affects the protection.

Talk to your doctor...there's a pill out now (seasonal?) that allows you to have just 4 periods a year...the depo provera injection for b/c (which I use) causes women's periods to cease usually (while on the shot)...

Don't self medicate without very good knowledge about what you are doing, and any potential risks...taking regular birth control pills continuously may cause you to skip a period or two, but it won't completely prevent them (you will ovulate at some point)...

No reason to be depressed over having a period however...you're a woman and it's just part of being female...the sooner you accept that, the sooner you'll get over making yourself miserable for no reason...

Research your options and talk to your doc...see what's best for you...good luck!

Speak to your doctor about the best options for you and while you are there he will ease your mind about the current bleeding problem.

There is an injection you can have now which works just like the pill but you have no periods whatsoever, but you will need to go to the doctors for them to administer it every few months. As long as you don't miss your appointments, it is far easier not to forget to take it every day.
It sounds like that may be more suitable for you.

first of all, go have a chat with your GP. Ask Him/her about the depot provera. It is a 12weekly injection, not for every one, mind. But I can tell you, as someone who hated periods too, I now swear by this injection. I too used to forget taking the pill, not to mention the headaches. Anyway, do go chat with your GP, explain what's been happening and just enquire about this injection, see what you think. Good luck

i did exactly what you did, and i kept forgetting to take them, which is why i went on the pill implant. i dont have any periods now whatsoever, its not like that for everyone but even so, you never have to worry about forgetting to take it for 3 years and in the 7 years its been around, not one woman has gotten pregnant on it.
id say thats worth a try.

Not having your period can be dangerous to your health. Your body is designed to cycle if it doesnt cycle you can end up damaging the lining of your uterus. If you push your body so that it doesnt cycle you will probably end up with break through bleeding. My suggestions. Take the pill as normal and let your body cycle. If it feels yucky....shave down there....it will make it a lot easier to keep clean.

Keep on taking them like you didn't forget.... just skip the pills for those days you missed.
It'll take awhile for your body to re-adjust.
