Now that's a good question! I assume it's because there are just too many tribes in the Arab world; each with their own agendas (and dictators or generations of ruling families that only care about their fortunes - not their people). And if many Arabs share the view that the only solution to Israel is getting rid of Israel, then that's just not a very good solution for both sides.
"come together in the name of Islam"? One of the fundamental problems is *religion*. How about "come together in the name of humanity"?

Look at it from The Israelis point of view. Your people haven't had a homeland in 2000 years and they're scattered all over the world. Everywhere they go,they face discrimination, and in some cases, torture, robbery, isolation. Your people are finally given a piece of land which by the way belonged to someone else, but wouldn't you fight to keep the land at any cost? You have different tribes of Arabs fighting each other with different political agendas, but yet they manage to have enough energy to fight the Israelis. The religion of Islam has nothing to do with it. It's just plain old politics.

Why should be in the name of Islam? It's been a territorial dispute all along. Both party just love violence and killing each other. Islam has got nothing to do with it.
