people from the south.
I've lived in every region, and I must say, they are damn friendly...
I ran over someone with my shopping cart, and THEY apologized to me... it's crazy...
on the freeway, people just scoot over so you're sure to have room...
at a store, every minute on the minute, someone will be asking you if you're finding everything ok or you need any help...
and I'm not just talking about people who work in the store!
if you search for a brand too long, another customer will try and find it for you...
yeah, definitely the south.

Depends upon who you are, sadly. There are still racists in this country who can make people not of their ethnicity feel unwelcome in their communities.
But I feel that you find the friendliest people in the larger towns -not too small, but not big enough to really be cities - so those places in the 40,000 to 100,000 population range, and where there is at least 10 miles of open space between them and the next town of their size, and at least 45 miles from a major metro area.
Places like Rio Vista CA and Pueblo CO

The west, mostly Montana has nice people. There are not too many people who live here, so we are just so happy to see someone else. Just kidding. We are a friendly state though. California reminds me of snotty people, the south is where the good ol' boys are, and the East coast is jittery due to the 9-11 incident.

Well Dale Being in the service for 22 years and having lived in about 13 states I think I can answeer that..It all depends on where your looking and just how friendly you are, and your age...I'm now retired and live in Tennessee and must say at my age this is a very friendly state..In my younger years I would have to say Arizona..I have found out over my 65 years that people are as friendly as you yourself are willing to be..Your FRIEND in Tennessee...ROB

I have found the people in the North-East to be friendlier than any other part of the country that I'm personally familiar with.
No, I don't live in the NE now.

People talk to me a lot, out of the blue, so I must look friendly. I've lived in Washington, Oregon and Utah, and they're all really friendly, although the Utahns might be a bit more talkative.
