Get a pool check kit. The amount varies. Go to a pool store or even WalMart or the local chain store. Check by pool supplies

you should invest in the chlorine strip test kit, it tells you by color matching what is needed. then you will need to do some quick calculations to get the right dosage. don't shock it before your having house guests though, it could make it very ugly for the eyes of your guests and you.

follow directions on the box . do you have a test kit or test strips for the water. follow the instructions water will go green pretty quick if you dont
