I heard that you can become a truck driver and some people work as couple teams. I wondered how my boyfriend and I could become a team? we have no training and would be just starting out as drivers.

You can go to a local truck stop (or look online) and find many companies that hire new people. They sometimes even provide training. Then you just call and ask to go together. I think one of the best is Werner Enterprises. You will have to train seperately, but then you can go together.

go to a big trucking company like swift, jb hunt, werner enterprises, DART, or Yellow and get into a driver training program. THey will usually pay for you to train if you promise to stay with them a certain period of time. Become employee drivers or get into a lease purchase program to buy your own truck. Start hauling for them and see how much you like it. Eventuallly you could leave them and probably be more profitable with a smaller and more specialized company. Keep a clean motor vehicle record and accident record and you will be guaranteed a driving position the rest of your life.

You have to get a CDL (Commercial Drivers License) It's better if you go to driving school but you can just get a book from your Driver's testing facility, study it and take the test. Then you would just apply with a company that is looking for team drivers. You can find those in any decent job section of classified newspaper ads.

Call Schneider National. They have a good training program. If their criteria doesn't fit your needs there are MANY other trucking schools out there. If you have a truck stop in your town go get some trucking magazines and look at them. There you should find advertisements for trucking schools and companies willing to hire students just out of school.

My husbnd drove and then I went to school and now we team.
Consider CRST who will hire you both and train you for free at Kirkwood Community College and pay to bus you there for a 6 mo. committment to drive for them. That is where I went to school. They do team driving.
Many companies will train you. Just make sure you can afford to be at school for 3 weeks to a month and then work for a week or two with no income. You will get some, but not much at first. But, I now make 50,000 a year and went to school in Oct 05. You can do this!!

go to a truck driving school, pass, apply to a trucking company, go through their training program (requires you to go on sepaprate trucks), then after training you'll both be assigned you own truck and make great money. It's very tiring and you don't see each other much (one sleeps while the other drives) Good luck!
