If you don't like what people are writing and it's blatantly offensive and/or improper for this forum, click on the "Report Abuse" link and report them... Unfortunately, there are ignorant people out there that make racists comments all the time, but our country allows for the freedom of speech, so we can't really stop the problem... (By the way, calling them "narrow minded morons" isn't going to help your argument...)

I don't think they should be tracked per say. They should follow up on users that are flagged for abuse. Users should use this function more often. Yahoo would be in a tough position to track and prosecute such offenders due to free speech protection. However, if a hate crime is commited, threats made they should pursue that and pass any information on to authorities.

(stupid question)

I'm not a racist, but (unfortunately), it's not against the law to be racist if you so choose, and, racism and narrow mindedness are not the same thing. there's no place for racism anywhere in today's society, but "narrow mindedness" on the other hand encourages debate and converstaion about politics, religion, beliefs, and yes even racem between any and all individuals, but it can also considereed the same as being stubborn-like. Just because someone doesn't share the same opinion as yourself doesn't mean they are narrowminded, in fact, what you consider to be open minded could actually be considered to be narrow minded by other people...it's all in someones opinion....period.

IMO they should suspend the account of anyone who is making racist comments and make a note of the IP so they cannot join again on that computer. Although I dont see what the legal system will be able to do, as it is just a comment. Their job kicks in when it turns phyical.

No. Becomes too easily abused, and too big-brotherish.

I don't much care for those who espouse hatred on here (or anywhere), but I think the way Yahoo is currently handling it is probably the best way - people get reported for inappropriate behavious, and then yahoo censures them.

Racists and hate-mongers are entitled to their 1st ammendment rights as well as I am, and to encroach upon their rights will eventually lead to the erosion of mine. Use them as bad examples and point them out as pathetic, and then move on.

Never. People have the right to say what they want and it is not at all illegal to be racist so long as you don't physically harm or harass anyone over your beliefs. I think we should just leave them alone. If they want to cut themselves off from a huge section of society based on a racist belief system then let them. Is it your problem?

No, I am a strong believer in the freedom of speach.
Also if we stop racist from speaking their mind then it is hard to know who is racist, which i think is worse. I would rather know and thereby be able to avoid them. Plus with the majority of them the more they speak the stupidier and more ignorant they tend to sound.

If it's horribly vicious and outlandish racism then yes, if not then maybe just a warning they'll get the boot if they say things like this again... not that I'm saying any racism is good .. but there is a difference between racism and ignorance

if you ignore racists it hurts them more .....but a remark made by someone can be taken as racist/sexist/ and not be meant like that at all..jokes etc nobody tells racist jokes to be nasty it supposed to make people laugh ...but someone somewhere will be offended you cant please all of the people all of the time...sometimes it is in the eye of the supposed victim not by the person who makes the remark...out and out ractist /hate views should be ignored they will soon get bored and move on to another site if nobody responds if you do then they have won.....
