As Oscar Wilde says "giving up smoking is the easiest thing in the world to do...i have done it at least a million times..."
Sorry,
Will power is the only true way, you have to be certain you want to give up and have a reason for giving up then stick to it!

You will need all your will-power. Choose a day to quit and mark it on your calendar. Make sure you tell everybody about that day - because you are going to need their support. Throw all your ashtrays and cigarette lighters away on that day. Clean your house from top to bottom and get rid of all those old stinky smoke smells. Make everything fresh. Get a big glass jar and throw into it all the money that you used to spend on cigarettes each day - and enjoy watching how it all builds up over time. Imagine something nice that you would like to buy with it. DO NOT allow other people to come into your house and smoke around you. To become a non-smoker, you have to start thinking like one. And do not go into other homes or places that you know a lot of other people are going to be smoking in. Bars, etc. Carry some chewing gum around with you at all times, and whenever you feel like a cigarette - unwrap some gum instead and chew on that until the craving goes away - (even if that means chewing through the entire packet). It takes a lot of effort, but you CAN do it. And just imagine how amazing it will feel when you finally do succeed. Good luck! ;-)

There's a product which you can by from the Chemist called S. O.S "Stub out Smoking". It's a kinda mouthwash that takes away the craving for nicotine, it's about £15 though, maybe you could enquire more about this product at your local Pharmacy. Good Luck

I've tried medication too. Didn't work for me. I didn't really see a perceptible difference in craving. What I actually missed was the feeling of smoke going down the throat. Never tried the patch though.

Allen Carr's Easyway to Stop Smoking. By far the easiest, most straightforward way to stop. It's not scary! Book costs a few quid and most people stop straightaway after reading it. It really works. I quit smoking, so did my dad, so did my best mate, just from reading the book. Just try it. Good luck!

This is probably seemingly the silliest of all the answers I have read and definately the unhealthiest way to give up. My Uncle wanted to give up and couldn't until somebody told him to go and buy 60 cigarettes and sit there and smoke them one after the other, I can tell you now he didn't cope very well but did it and has never smoked since!!! As I say not the best advice but it worked!!!!

If you have a problem with will power, try hypnosis. Yeah, I know; sounds "out there," but major hospital networks across the country are offering it as a viable method to quit smoking. You may be able to order hypnosis CDs online, but you'd be better off finding a hospital that offers hypnosis (assuming your health care plan will cover most or all of it). I quit cold turkey and I do NOT recommend that for you.
