Quitting the rat race is fine as long as you are able to handle & be happy with changes to your life it will bring like lack of money, loss of work self respect.
I left a large city to live in the countryside, tiny village with duck pond etc & it's a big, huge change just things like public transport or adequately paying jobs are so much harder to find in the country.
It isn't always the heaven people think it is

I'm kind of doing it already. Actually I've probably been doing that for a while.
I started out in chemistry. I was always very adept at math and science. I worked two years in a biotech lab, and just felt like I was neglecting the more compassionate side of my nature, so I got my degree in psychology. Worked in Migrant Head Start for over 4 years.
I left behind what was becoming a career in head start/social work and decided I wanted to come live in the Northwest and live a completely different lifestyle.
I'm really glad I did it, because now I have the life experience, but I'm also glad I left because I left before I burned out and now I still have only good memories of my times with the children and their families.
Now I'm working on my art, and experimenting in selling it. I'm teaching piano lessons. I just got mini-certified to be a spanish medical interpreter, which is a recent ambition for me. I'll be getting my state certification soon, which is very exciting. I've just been "hired" as an independent contractor with the local hospital to interpret.
And I'm living in the Northwest, among all the tall, tall trees and near the water, like I've wanted to for a long time. When I told my best friend she said, "I wondered when you were going to come back to the Northwest."
In a few years, I'd like to go back to school for a BSN, but for now, I'm having fun experiencing this new way of living, low stress, focusing on my health.
It's amazing that when I lifted the grip on my life, I got so much control over it. I had to give up "everything" to get it, but I think I'm happy. Wow.

What rat race, many people have stopped and many people are doing it. It is not usually that hard to quit is all in ones mind , and basically lower there intentions and expectations it could easily be achieved to a certain point.

nicely i think a similar way and make rather good money notwithstanding it isn't any longer truly well worth the strain. at present I surely were taking on a diverse outlook on existence. i do not imagine existence is meant to slave away and artwork, social gathering etc... there is extra to it then such. at present I surely were considering packing up and taking off as a lot as a pair distant small city or small village with a severe lack of technologies. That way you may have a tendency on your activities and go away time for further major issues in existence along with prayer, meditation, socializing and easily taking section in the failings this international has to furnish. when I say small village I recommend small huts with candles and farms to stay off of someplace in Asia. yet a small city may be only as positive, artwork interior the nook keep, loosen up and stay existence. The rat race is garbage and for the reason that one of those large volume of folk are stuck up in it then others experience rigidity to maintain up... i do not imagine that is what existence is about... I used to yet no longer now.

I did and i have! Left the city (Scotland)and full time nursing for a tiny village, cottage 1/4 mile away from nearest neighbour in rural Ireland, north west. I work with dogs, do a monthly shift with agency (Up north) and enjoy peace and quiet and privacy! My health's improved and i don't spend 1/2 as much money as i used to! I grow my own vegetables and enjoy my garden and forest as we do have a little forest at the back of our property! My only regret has to be that i didn't do it sooner than that! I love it and would recommend it to anyone!

I work part time. I've been there for years but lately it's stressful and everyone complains all the time. I've recently thought about leaving, but I'd never find the pay/benefits anywhere else. My dream would be to work at an animal shelter...I plan to volunteer there as soon as my hubby gets done his summer job and we can schedule it in!
