look..
1-materrazi kept on pulling zedan shirt and zedan told him to stop once
2-then after he didnt stop zedan told him again to stop if he wants to take his shirt after the match
3-then materrazi told zedan you are a filthy muslim and told him you are a terrorist
4-zedan then kept his temper but after materrazi continued and insulted his sister zedan hit him in the stomach
5-then zidan unfortunatly got sent off by a referee who didnt see what happened in the first place!!!
that was too much pressure on zedan because the whole team and country was depending on him and he was asking for substitution because he was injured in his arm...and the couch didnt change him
in my opinion if zidan was going to shot in the penalties...i think he was going to miss it because he was very tierd

I really don't think Materazzi said anything racist to Zidane, or anything about being a terrorist. Both Zidane and Materazzi have said it had nothing to do with that. However, Materazzi is an asshole and he said something very crude and offensive to Zidane about Zidane's mother and sister. It was all part of his plan to make Zidane tick or something. Materazzi should also have received a red card, and he should really be banned because he is a disgrace to football. Zidane should have waited until after the game to beat up Materazzi, but Materazzi definitely deserved to be hit.

The story I heard was that Materazzi insulted Zidane's family, and Zidane did not want Materazzi or anyone else to think it's possible to get away with that action. Now the whole world knows it's not possible to get away with insulting Zidane -- it's only possible to get away with rattling him so badly he loses self-control and the cup at the same time. In my opinion, he should have just concentrated on the game and then filed a formal complaint afterwards.

FIFA DISCRIMINATION OR FAVOURITISM? Insults are very common in sports and players are asked to ignore them at any cost. I am sure Mr. Zidane has directed many insults to other players who in their turn went on with the game. Now that the insults go towards Mr. Zidane the whole world is awakening in their effort to make Zidane the victim. In my opinion he is no victim and he certainly has a short fuse. If Fifa punished the perpetrator this time, will they do it everytime? or only when Mr. Zidane is involved? Fida certainly did not move a finger when the insults in 2004 were directedto Francesco Totti. (Mr. Platini where were you then)?

Zidane did it for one reason: he's tough as nails. He one of the legends of football, a true leader all over the field and when Materazzi insulted the brute, Zidane taught him a lesson, that's all there is. I'd do the same if I knew I was capable of knocking someone down with my head.

All I know is that Zidane is a living legend and a gentleman, for him, to have reacted that way I am sure that the Italian guy crossed the line. This coming from a French soccer team hater. I stand by Zinedine on anything he says, he has paid his dues and his reaction should be seen for what it is: A man defending the pride of his family. Shame on Materazzi for naming those who he doesn't know.

he did this because Materazzi had said a racial slur about his mother and also sister. Zidane said that he did it because if he had let it pass with out him doing anything it would have ment that Materazzi was right to have said racial slurs about his family.
