The Monterrey Bay Aquarium in CA, is very excellent. If you are in the area it is a must see.
I have seen the Baltimore Aquarium as well, but I was pretty young. It definitely made an impression though.
The best zoo (in the U.S.A) is the San Diego Wild Animal Park, also CA. All others are depressing by comparison.
So I lean towards the Monterrey Bay aquarium since the San Diego zoo, is sort of part of the same system of excellence in habitat & conservation in CA.
