I have an opportunity to audition for some voice-over work and I have dreamed of doing this kind of thing. I have a trained voice, but no $$ for expensive demos. This is a temporary job that could lead to bigger things if I can just manage to make my voice available online somehow

Here's what you should do:

1. Plug a microphone into your PC.
No need to buy something expensive at this point.

2. Open Sound Recorder (START > All Programs > Accessories > Entertainment > Sound Recorder)

3. Click File > Properties.

4. Click "Convert Now".

5. In the Attributes drop-down list, select "44.100 kHz, 16 bit Mono, 86 KB/second".
This is important to ensure decent sound quality. The head of my studio recommended this setting.

6. Click OK.

7. Record your voice and save the file as a WAV file.

8. The file will not be small, so you *may* want to convert it to an MP3 file. To do this, download Audacity from http://audacity.sourceforge.net/, open the file in Audacity, and save it as MP3.

9. Upload the file to the relevant site.

Good Luck!!!

You'll need a microphone plugged in properly to your computer.

In Windows:

START --> Programs --> Accessories --> Entertainment --> Sound Recorder

Record a file and save it. It will be in a .WAV format most likely which is playable in most players but if it's of any length the file may be very large. You may need a piece of software to convert the file into .WMA or .MP3 to shrink it.

Once complete, you'll need to upload it to a file sharing service or website from where it may be accessed.

Simple, record your voice using something as simple as Windws' Sound Recorder and a microphone plugged into the computer, then find a website to upload it onto.

Your computer should have a microphone built into it, but the sound quality is going to suck more than likely.
