Okay let's get down to the facts:

1) UPS and Fedex are private companies. Their only purpose? To profit from what you have to send
2) The USPS is a semi-private company that began as a federal entity 200 years ago.
3) It was the USPS that created the concept of overnight mail, called "Express mail," not Fedex. Fedex just got better at it over time.
4) No money for the functioning of the USPS comes from the federal budget.
5) All three companies from tracking
6) UPS and Fedex focus on commercial deliveries and surcharge residential customers

UPS - United Parcel Service - The ship products quicker than the Post Office and have a well developed ground transportation service.

Fed Ex - Federal Express - Pioneered the get it there fast mail business. Can cost a little more but they are very adept at getting the parcel there overnight. They have a well developed air fleet.

USPS - United States Postal Service - "An army of men [and women] in little blue suits handing out Pottery Barn catalogs" to quote Jerry Seinfeld. This is a quasi-government agency that delivery mail to just about every American. The are responsible for stamps and postage prices. They bring all the mail to all the mailboxes in the country. They are typically cheap but offer some premium services.

The main difference I see as I customer of each...
1. UPS seems to be a little unorganized. Example.... I ordered a shipment that arrived on a Friday at noon to the local UPS location. The shipment was scheduled for the upcoming Monday. I did not receive the shipment, which by the way the local facility is literally 3 blocks away from my location, until after 5 on Monday. They do not gave the ability to change scheduling much.
2. Fed Ex is much more organized. The have the ability to adapt and change. I have received multiple shipments days earlier because it arrived early and was more efficient to deliver it early. They did not leave the shipment in transit mode just because it was not scheduled.
3. Drivers....fed ex drivers seem to be friendlier and not as rushed. The ups drivers always seem behind schedule.

Fed ex wins. Ups appears to have the same mentality as usps..."you will get your shipment when you get it, and not a second sooner."

UPS and Fed Ex are private companies. The USPS is a governmental owned company (like the TVA)

All have to make money, but UPS and FED EX are not subsidized.

USPS delivers mostly junk. When was the last time you received junk mail via FED EX or UPS?

UPS - United Parcel Service, good tracking, fairly fast, and widely used

USPS - United States Postal Service, slow, cheap, poor tracking

FedEx - Probably the fastest, fairly decent tracking, about the same cost as UPS, also widely used.

A new competitor is DHL, I don't know very much about them, they seem a bit expensive
