you probably need a brighter color. Go to a cosmetics counter in the mall, have them "fit" you and then find something similiar at your local drugstore.

The idea is to buy foundation that is as close to your natural skin color as possible, but they say if you can't match exatcly it's better to go slightly lighter. Does your face look pale without any foundation? If so, then it is normal that it will look pale with the correct color of foundation. You could try 'tanning products' Este Lauder has an excellent one that doesn't cause breakouts and is not to expensive. Remember when you use 'rub on' tanning products, it takes a few hours before you notice the effects, so don't keep putting on more because you cant see a 'tan' right away!

maybe try a beige instead of an ivory, i have light skin too and i use loreal's (liquid) natural beige.....try on the foundations before you buy them - you can open most of the liquid foundations if thats what you use, thats what i did when i bought my first foundation. I picked a couple colors and put each color on my jaw line and looked in the mirror to see which color i liked best. It also depends on how your skin is "tinted" like if you have a yellow undertone or a white undertone. (i have a yellow so the beige looks pretty good, and i wont have to worry about looking pale in the winter because the color isnt lighter than my skin, its kinda like a bronzer)

No; you should never go more than one shade darker, if that. The best thing is to match your skin tone as close as you can. Sometimes in summer people have a bit more colour, but it should still be in the same colour family only maybe a bit deeper.

I agree w/ "alwaysperfec237"
If you skin is a little pale, use some brozer, but make sure it is the right shade and not too dark. If it is too dark it will look fake and orange. You could also get a self tanner and try that, but again, make sure it's not too dark.
And remeber, enhance you beauty, don't try to look like someone else (o;

I have light skin as well and use ivory...I use Laura Geller's Bronze and Brighten to give it a little color. I sweep it with a brush on areas where the sun hits and it gives me the perfect color. You can get it on QVC or her website.

Try a shade or two darker. Check out the shades Mary Kay has.

you have to figure out what your undertone is. even if your pale, your skin either looks good with a pink, beige or yellow undertoned foundation. thats the difference between looking pasty or glowing!
