Dont worry, the same thing happened to me its ussally not the physical way your playing, its ussally the mental way your playing. Trust me the mentallity of your first match affects your game big time, so practice more on your mental skills like handeling pressure, work on not getting so nervous cause that stuff will totally mess with your head and makes you not play right, or the way you ussally play on the practice court, to help you work on this try some round robin matches; they helped me out allot, whats happening to you when you get nervous or if your under pressure you start to lose your focus the main thing that makes you mentally strong is your focus and when you start losing that you cant stand up even against someone thats just lobbing balls at you cause your not all there. So work on your focus, it will help trust me oh and sign yourself up for some round robins, the best of luck to you!! hope you win your second match!!!

Don't give up. Most people loose their first match just starting out. Just more match toughness is the key. The more matches you play the better you get. Good Luck. Keep trying.

Don't worry, it is totally normal to lose your first match because you can have good shots, but you may not know how to deal with different situations and how to respond to certain things happening. You will pick things up as you go along and play more matches. Try reading Winning Ugly by Brad Gilbert.

Keep on trying. Maybe you need to work on the mental side of your game. Even if your shots are great, it doesn't count for anything if you're too nervous to play competetively. Try keeping points in practice. Maybe play a tie-breaker or two just for fun. There won't be any pressure, but it'll get you more used to match-play. Good luck :)

Do not expect to win your very first match esp. when you just started. Take lessons, practice more and keep on playing. Learn from the matches you played. Be confident.

Just keep practicing, I didn't win a match in my first 12 tournaments, but I eventually started winning tournaments.

a lot of people lose thier first match 0 and 0. it hurts, but it takes time to learn to win. learn something from each loss, and just remeber to keep "hitting out" and one day those balls start dropping in.
