Because nobody believes in freedom of thought or ideas anymore... It's kind of sad really. I always thought any forum should be open to the free exchange of thoughts, but it seems most people are starting to lose sight of this once wonderful ideal. Most people think censorship is acceptable in certain situations, when the antithesis is what this country (U.S.) was founded on. Freethinking, Logic, Rationality: These are things that make mankind greater... The blackout we are applying to ourselves concerns me. I am afraid that soon freedoms will not be as high a priority for most people as it has and should be.

It seems like an attempt to do this.
When you get a question like "What's the best way to kill yourself?", it is a cry for help.
No one wants to give an answer that may result in another person's death.
Self-mutilation is an uncomfortable topic, as most people are unaware of cutters.

Hi Lucykennedy,
After you get enough points to show you care to get more, Yahoo will suspend your privilege for violating the community guidelines.
If you have Flash installed and enabled on your machine, the Email notice they send to you will include a funny cartoon showing the Y!A mascot (Yamster) defrocking the points from your avatar. Then, you get stripped down almost nude and receive a caning from the affectionate furry Yamster. The show ends fading to black and you will have to establish another ID if you want to play Yahoo Answers again.

i think it may be an societal obligation...to help u find the help u need before resorting to hurting urself. since it's basically a sign the person is struggling through life and may not be emotionally/mentally capable of just walking up to a clinic and ask for help. these people need to be asked if they want someone to talk to.

They don't want to encourage that type of behavior or thoughts or be liable in case someone says they learned it on Yahoo Answeres. Its in the community guidelines.
