You are close....have you husband wash his hands real good and then see if he can't work his finger into the cervix...you may need to dilate a few more cm if his fingers are fat..lol...but anyway have him gently push the sac back, and then run his finger around the rim of your cervix while applying pressure, its called stripping the membrane, and my doctors did this to me...and then after having a few babies, my husband started doing it to me to get labor started...works!!! I'd always be in full blown labor within 12 hours....

Congrats - you will have this baby soon! The % effaced is more a sign then the dialated. I would guess you will be headed to the hospital within a day or so. I was 70% effaced and had my daughter the next night. Good luck!!

Congrats your baby is close to arrival. I had a friend that was 1 cm for 2 weeks or so but she wasnt effaced. Considering you're 39 weeks, 70% effaced and starting to dilate I'd say your baby should be here within the week. Unfortunately no one knows for sure, but you seem very close. Im jealous. 32 weeks and my back is killing me. Ready to hold this baby and relieve this back pain LOL.Congrats to you.

70% means that your cervix is almost thinned out. I would do some walking if I were you walking will get the baby's head down on the cervix to help it too dilate. Your not far but no one can tell you for sure. It is up to that baby and your body. Some can go a month dilated 3 cm and have to be induced others may not be dilated and deliver the next day. But the odds are in your favor with all that going on

I am 39 weeks and have been 80% effaced and 1 cm dilated for about 2 weeks.
I have come to the conclusion that it means nothing until you start having contractions and or rupture your membranes.
We are in the same boat- good luck!!!!

I was 39 weeks pregnant and 90% and 5 cm and I was induced that day at 2:00pm and had my daughter at 11:47pm that night, you can go any day now, but if your water breaks go ASAP you can get an infection if you wait to long. And yes it can hurt the baby. Good luck and yes you are close walk as much as possible, Start right now and don't stop unless you get cramps, overheated, or your water breaks. Or you can go swimming, It all helps Lots of love -candie

it will be VERY soon now! you have 9cm to go on the dialation. although that sounds like a LOT, i was in "active" labor for about 40 minutes and went from a 5-10 in that time frame... you're REALLY close. you should go into labor within the week!

You can be 1 cm dilated for weeks. You probably want the baby to get as develped as possible, so try to take it easy and keep eating nourishing food.
