It depends on the job and the person's abilities. If I need someone with experience, then the older person. You just look at interests, the position applied for, etc.

If it were a part time job I might hire the young person but if t were a full time position I would probably hire a 40 and up

It depends on what type of company I run and what the specific job requirements are. I would probably want a person who is the most reliable and the easiest to train. I would also look at a person's employment record to make sure that they aren't someone who goes from job to job. I really don't think that age is as much of an issue as qualifications and qualities that someone possesses.

Depends on the reliability and how mature the person acts. I was 20 when i got hired at my office and i beat out a 45 year old woman...she had more education than me, but i am a quick learner and im dependable...ive worked here for 2 years and my boss says he made the best choice in hiring me

If the job was for like, attracting attention, I'd hire the young person. But if it was for something dependable, probably the older person.

It truly depends on what the job is and how much experience I need the person to have. Do I have a training budget to train them? After I train them will they stay? As to the person who has more experience, I'd have to ask - will they get bored? Will they want to move up? Is their a career path for either person?
There are many variables and none depend on age but what talent and value the person will bring to the job.

Depends on two things:

What's the job?

Is this person qualified? (I'd be more inclined to hire someone who's done the job or a similar one before I'd hire someone who has no idea.)

I would hire the older person as they would be more reliable and dependable. Kids nowadays don't seem to have committment to a job as older people do.

Age would not be a factor. If they were the best person for the job, I would hire them, regardless of their age.
