I think you mean 98 cent a liter. remember the US is the only country that does not use the metric system.
since 1 gallon = 3.78 liter; therefore, a gallon of gas in Canada costs 3.78*.98 = $.3.7044

It's either because they are using a cheaper gasoline, or they are selling it by the liter.

I suspect it's the latter reason.

Now, since 1 liter = 1.06 quarts and $0.98 per 1.06 quarts equates to $4.08 (I guess in Canadian Dollars) per U.S. gallon. $4.08 Canadian is $3.59 U.S. (as of 7/21/06). The last time I bought gasoline, I paid $2.78 a gallon, and the last time I checked, $2.78 was approximately 81 cents less that $3.50.

So just how does that mean we are being bled to death?

It's 98 cents a LITER, and that comes out to about $3.80 per gallon.

The pump price today in Edmonton is $1.07/liter, and 4 liters are about 1 US gallon.
you do the math and tell me who is getting hosed,
PS we get the oil out of the ground here and supply at least 10% of US needs

I am trying to figure out why, when there is a refinery 11 miles from where I live, gas is (now) $3.30, but when I was in South Dakota, it wasn't anywhere near that expensive and they have no refineries.

Any answers?

My gas is $2.65 per gallon. I live a dumb red southern state as some YA answerers have stated. If we are paying more than $3.00 per gallon who is the retard now?

Are you sure it isn't .98 cents a liter?

the reason gas is cheaper in south dakota is because the gas there doesn't have to be as "clean" so less refining is required.

gas in windsor is 3.80 a gallon right now.
