I read somewhere the Lutz family was paid to make up a haunted house claim. By the defense for for the dude that lived in the house before and went pyshco.

The Haunted House story told in both movies and books about Lutz's is false. Lutz's created story to make money which they did. There is NO TRUTH to this story and if you check various debunking websites like Snopes you will see its false.

I'm not sure about all the hauntings but the real life story of the family's death that lived their (before the hauntings started) is very interesting .. and still a mystery ...

I watched a show on the actual owners of the house the ones that they based the movie on. It was really interesting. If you look it up on the Internet they have really good sites with a lot of information, but I guess its up to you whether your a believer or not.

It is based on a real story. There are details in both the book and the movie that don't fit with the truth. And who would actually believe a pyscho who killed his entire family?
