There are a lot of horrible diseases that can cause nightsweats - like HIV and TB. But the worst of all is hitting menopause!!!!! ARRRRGGGGHHHH. If you are at the right age, you may be joining the wonderful world of no periods, hot tempers, and even hotter mood changes, and getting hot all of a sudden and then cold and then hot and then cold and then hot and what was I saying? Oh, yes - something about memory. Anyway, I think the memory thing is because of the lack of sleep and being constantly distracted because of the malfunctioning internal thermostat. From what I understand, this isn't fatal, but I'm not convinced yet. You could see a doctor - but sometimes they are not very understanding or helpful!!!! And they won't give you the little pills. I'd like to see them go through this - or better yet in a dark alley - a cool breezy alley yeah with ice with an ice pick with ice cold lemonade no a Popsicle a root-beer Popsicle a

How old are you? Any other symptoms???
Do you have a persistant cough? Weight loss???
Tuberculosis can cause night sweats, so can sleeping under a winter blanket in the summer in a room without AC and the onset of menopause. Description of problem is a little vague! Sorry!

Over-heating during sleep
Spicy foods before bedtime
Hot drinks before bedtime
Hot weather
Hot bedroom
Too many blankets
Exercising before bedtime

Depends on how old you are. If your roughly 38 and over... it could be an early sign of menopause.

If not, could it be drug related? Some meds to that. Or pregnancy maybe.
