my friend is going through this and would like to know what sorts of things you can do easily to check... and not have to put her parents through it... she isn't comfortable asking these sorts of things so....

If I were in this situation I would probably scavenger hunt for baby pics (like from birth and definately with the mom in them, dads ok too) and although everyone looks different, I look a lot like my mom and have a lot of characteristics of both of my parents.
I would advise her to look for some similarities like the distinct color of her and her parents eyes, and even the looks of her feet and the size and shape of their noses. Yes these are weird but seriously, my mom has the same feet I do and I have the same nose as my dad.
Also another thing she can do is look at pics from their parents childhood, like the same age she is, and look for similarities. Hope this helps =D

She could always ask what their views on adoption are. She can tell them that she knows someone that is thinking of giving her baby up and ask what they think of it. If they seem uncomfortable answering the question it may mean that they might be hiding something.
