i have had sons in prison and the reason they do that is because they think you are sending drugs or something like that in the stamp or the stickers.. you use to be able to send them stamps but now you have to put money on their books and they have to buy their own stamps.. i have no idea how they can send drugs in stamps but that is what i was told...also things can be considered contraband.. even things we would not normally think is wrong it is wrong to do in prison...even having clothes that are issued to you or you have bought is wrong in prison

Believe it or not, people are getting very creative about how they smuggle drugs into prison.
It would be a simple matter to put a drop of LSD on that sticker before affixing it to the envelop, for example. The prisoner removes the sticker ... licks the adhesive side ... takes a nice "trip" ... and there's a problem in Cell Block D.
Respect the rules when you're writing to any inmate. If you want to decorate an envelop with flowers ... draw them with a pen or pencil.
Stickers are a "no-no".

The reason stickers are prohibited is that people have used them to send small amounts of drugs- the way around it is to get some rubber stamps and a couple of ink pads and use those to decorate the envelope. Or buy cute envelopes to begin with, the dollar stores often have unusual stationery.

They do not allow any kind of stickers on the envelopes. Just seal it. And send it on its way. She will get it. If it comes back maybe you are writing the wrong add. Or maybe shes just not accepting the letter or they have move her to another jail. Good Luck.

if you keep putting stickers and they keep being returned then don't put a sticker on and see what happens, most likely they are going to open up the letter anyways to see if anything has been snuck inside of it, but if you send it without a sticker and get the same result then its possible that she is telling them to return them to you because she doesn't want to have any contact with you or she's really going through something and doesn't want know how to tell you exactly....

Because drugs can be dissolved in the adhesives or, in powdered form, stuck beneath it. The gender of the prison/inmate is immaterial. Generally, pen-decorated envelopes are allowed; if you want to 'pretty it up' get some felt-tips and get artistic!

Couple of reasons
1) The sticker could have a micro of acid
2)There could be a tiny explosive that has a remote trigger
3)The don't want the inmate to feel homesick
and the list goes on

just send it plain then... I think they do that because people are smart enough to hide drugs or razors in things like that.. weird I know but it can be done. Some have figured out a way to hide a small amount of powdery drugs in envelopes. It’s actually quite easy.

Is that a rule from the prison- I am sure they have guidelines- I don't think prison is supposed to be pretty, I mean it's not like she is on vacation somewhere? I really have no idea, ask the prison they should be able to tell you why-
