the term refers to the male cat female rabbit cross, the male rabbit female cat cross is simply called a rat, there are obviously many more of them! Cabbits are unfortunately a sterile hybrid and are thus extremely rare in nature. But the are very effective mousadee-ers(the cross between a mouse and a chickadee) because of the combined hop and pounce behaviour

A cabbit was originally the Manx cat. Manx cats don't have tails. Eventually, people began to believe that they were the product of a cat/rabbit crossbreeding. This is incorrect and impossible. There is a well known genetic mutation among cats that makes them hop rather than walk. Cats with this mutation are often called cabbits although they are pure cats.

someones been pulling your leg. A rabbit and cat are not in the same family. Now a tiger and lion can mate and they are called a liger. But not a cabbit.

Nope. But there is an animal called a bearcat. It's not literally a cross between a bear and a cat, but it definitely looks like one.

I hear that people that have cats with extra toes tell people they are part rabbit. Not possible...two completely different species.

No, because rabbits and cats are of differing species and are unable to breed.
