Lebanon is not a threat, and they are not the reason for the invasion. Hezbollah, a terrorist organization sponsored mostly by Iran, is in control of southern Lebanon and stages attacks from there, upon Israel.
Lebanon is under a UN Security Council Resolution 1559, which calls for disarming Hezbollah and the deployment of the Lebanese army in southern Lebanon. Lebanon has so far refused to implement this UN Resolution.
Israel has the right to defend itself. If Lebanon won't remove Hezbollah, Israel will.

saint sean has a good point. You see, Israel has a very powerful tool, more powerful than the missiles it uses to kill innocents. And it's the media. Jews control the media, and with it, they control how the ignorant people of the west think. It's a propaganda, a brainwashing session if you ask me.
A good example is the fact that people in the US are ok with the fact that Israel kill all these civilians in self defense right? well, how does airstrikes and killing of civilians become self defense? how can you all be SO blind not to see the propaganda? they haven't killed ONE hezbollah soldier during these 10 days of invasion. They only destroyed human lives and the lebanese infrastructure. Israelis are criminals as much as hezbollah is. but since they control the media, they get to determine and tell people who is a terrorist from who isn't. Hezbollah becomes terrorist ( which i agree) but the israeli gvt isn't? How does that make any sense? Isn't terrorism and crimes the killing of innocents? And so for the west, the brainwashing becomes to the point that dead kids and women is ok as long as its on the arab side. God forbid if arabs did the same to israel, the whole world would react, but if israel kills arabs, its fine.
Do you all accept this? Is this the unfair world you want to live in? Doesn't any of you want to react and ask the stopping of such a genocide?
the follwing web site is the prrof of how horrible the israeli gvt is: http://www.nowarlb.com/

last year the Lebanese people thought that they were free from the Syrians, the country was divided into two , one part supporting the Syrians (Hezbollah) and the other part supporting the idea of Lebanon as a free country
to prove that we need the Syrians Hezbollah started to struggle the Israeli (the old enemy)
known as terrorists Hezbollah captured two Israeli soldiers claiming two other Hezbollah soldiers in return
p.s. the Hezbollah soldiers were captured by the Israeli in 1975
Many threats were sent to the Israeli before the war started and many threats were sent to the Christians to support the Palestinians refugees knowing that the Hezbollah, Syria, Iran and the Palestinians have one common enemy : Israel

Divide and conquer and then keep some for yourself, that is the real Israeli objective in Lebanon. However, Israeli plan is only part of a bigger strategy being executed by the US which mirrors it. Note that there are now 4 different countries being engaged in wars, Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine and Lebanon..more threats going to Iran and Syria..so 2 captured soldiers in Lebanon or Gaza is definitely not the reason for killing thousands on all fronts.

Basically Lebanon as such isn't a threat, it's just they harbour the Islamic terrorist group Hezbollah that's been giving Israel some sh*t, and haven't been getting their fingers out their asses with regards to stopping them..... so Israel have decided "IF you want a job done properly, do it yourself"..... so gone in after them.

Beginning early this morning, July 21st 2006, IDF ground forces are operating in the area of the Karni crossing in the northern Gaza Strip. In a military engagement just over the border of Lebanon Israeli soldiers of the Egoz regiment discovered one of the many fortified bunkers holding the large arsenal of missiles currently raining upon Israeli towns in the North. The United Nations has called for a ceasefire and wishes to oversee
the peace.
The first point to bear in mind is that the crisis did not truly
begin with the capture of two Israeli soldiers by Hezbollah's Operation True Promise . The kidnappings presented a serious problem for Israel, but could not, by themselves, define the geopolitical issue. That definition came when Hezbollah rockets struck Haifa, Israel's third-largest city, on July 13. There were also claims coming from Hezbollah, and confirmed by Israeli officials, that Hezbollah had missiles available that could reach Tel Aviv. Israel's population is concentrated in the Tel Aviv-Jerusalem corridor and in the Tel Aviv-Haifa corridor. In effect, Hezbollah had attained the ability to strike at the Israeli heartland. Hezbollah has been hitting the northern part of this heartland, as well as pounding Israel's northern frontier.
Formerly, Syria had troops in Lebanon. When Syria withdrew its troops Hezbollah could operate freely.
Hezbollah are Shiite Muslims as are most Lebanese, Syrians, Iraqis, Iranians and some Yemenis, Pakistanis and Bahrainians. Diplomatic efforts are aimed at getting the Sunni Muslim countries to negotiate. This includes Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Jordan.
Israel has sent special forces troops into Lebanon to ferret out strongholds and weapons. Many of these are located in tunnels. Israel may send tanks. On Beirut Al-Manar TV Lebanese President Emile Lahhud expressed his support for Hezbollah leader, Al-Sayyid [Hasan] Nasrallah. It seems likely that the Lebanese will commit their army to assist Hezbollah against Israel.
Hezbollah has indicated that it will bombard Tel-Aviv, Israel with 500 missiles. So far, Hezbollah has used Kassam and Ketuysha rockets. It has not used the Zelzal or Fajr missiles, yet which have longer range. Israel is committed to ferreting out the missiles and destroying them. This will be costly to both sides in casualties.
It seems that Hezbollah wants to maximize civilian casualties on both sides. Hezbollah deliberately operates military wings out of densely populated areas. In addition, Israeli civilian casualties are maximized when Hezbollah launches antipersonnel missiles designed by Syria and Iran with ball-bearing shrapnel.
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has said on MEMRI TV the volcano of rage of the people in the region is on the brink of eruption...it will not be limited to this region

Depending upon who you believe, the Israelis are massing on the border in preparation of an invasion in hopes of creating a large buffer zone to protect Israel from more missiles. Leaflets were dropped to warn the Lebanese people to flee the area to avoid more civilian casualties.
ah.. i see it's 'conspiracy friday' in the current events arena
