Usually those things go on due to a problem with the fuel management, electronic ignition, or exhaust emissions systems. Such things are rather hard to diagnose at home, and just unplugging things can make the car undriveable.
Personally, if you have any friends that are ASE auto mechanics, they can get access to a code reader for your car, and tell you EXACTLY why the light is coming on. They could also probably fix it for you, maybe even cheaper than the dealer.

First of all, you want to find out why the light went on. It may be something as easy as a loose fuel cap. However, with 58K, it can be many different things. Go to Autozone, have them hook up the OBD II scanner and determine what the code is.

This is how you reset it on a GMC maybe it might work on a Dodge...... Turn it key on but don't start it. push the gas peddle all the way to the floor 3 times Turn the key off. Then start the Dodge. Maybe that will work.

Normally on Dodges, if you unhook the negative (ground) lead from the battery for a while maybe 20 minutes should do it.

go to an autozone parts store. they'll check it free, and tell you what the code was, what description of the problem is, and clear it for you. better off knowing what it was in case it comes back again.
