The rubber that surrounds the straps broke off. I have an older round about with black straps and gray rubber.

I would call the manufacturer first and see if they offer them as replacements or if the car seat has been recalled. I did this with a Costco seat to get an additional base and they sold it to me for a reasonable price and shipped it free of charge and I had it in like two days. I don't know that all companies are that good about replacement or additional pieces, but it is worth a shot...plus they should be able to tell you if you could buy them locally.

If the car seat is more than 6 years old it is not recommended to use them. I had a safety check done on mine by a police officer and one of the two car seats that I had was too old. If it is not more than 6 years old go to www.ask.com to find the website for the company to see if they sell replacement parts. Better safe than sorry when it comes to the healthy and safety of your child.

Usually fixing a car seat is not recommended. I would get it checked by your local fire department first and then look into a local store for the pieces that you will be suggested repairing. In 9 out of 10 your fire department will recommend buying a new car seat. You can get discounted Roundabouts at http://www.kidzthings.com/ starting at $199.99 with free shipping.
