Welp, Andrew Jackson was a pretty evil guy but I'd say George Bush Jr. has won the distinguished place in history of being the worst President ever...not to mention an evil war mongering totalitarian. A lying manipulative man with a TOTAL agenda for a new world. And that applies to Chaney and Rove and Rumsfeld as well.
Has everyone forgotten this man was never elected?
Yup, Georgie wins. hands down.

Not every president of the US is liked by everyone in the country. But if you want to talk worst presidents, there are many, Andrew Johnson and Jimmy Carter are probably the worst by far. Carter gave away the Panama Canal, didn't reign in the Ayatollah and got the US into that big Iranian mess, taxes were higher than ever, he deregulated the airlines, which caused spikes in prices accross the board with lower safety standards. Geez, I could go on and on. Clinton was bad too, he raised taxes higher than any president ever, sent troops to "solve crises" 33 times with no results in any of the "crises". He also had very bad character, and was a very poor example to the young people of the country. No, there are many other poor examples of presidents. You might not like GW, but at least you know where he stands.

President Ronald Reagan was put down and 'hated' by the liberals for the way he ran our country during his administration. He has gone down in history as one of greatest and most beloved Presidents. The same thing will happen with President Bush - he will be revered as one of our greatest leaders. As long as President Bush is in office, the terrorists know better than to attack our country again.

Unlikely.

President Carter, for example, was far worse.

Do you remember having to wait in gas lines for hours? Do you remember only being able to buy gas on odd or even numbered days, depending on your license plate?

Tax rate were at all-time highs. Interest rates were in the 20s!

But worse, when Iranian revolutionaries ousted their relatively liberal government and took 20+ Americans hostage in Tehran, he did nothing. American hostages were held for over a year! This show of impotence marked the dawn of the state sponsored terrorism the entire world faces today. Carter similarly did nothing when Hezb'Allah brought strife and terror to Lebanon, which at the time was considered to be the Paris of the Middle

He gave away the Panama Canal and received nothing in return. The Panama Canal is now managed by companies connected with the Chinese military and its infrastructure crumbles.

In my humble outsiders (Canadian) opinion, Americans have been searching in vain for a white knight President since John Kennedy was killed. Here In Canada, we have had a succession of "do nothing" leaders for the last 20 years. At least Mr. Bush is taking a stand against the mob of terrorists in Iraq/Iran. I am personally suprised that you have adopted such a lenient attitude toward the perpetrators of 911 (Remember Pearl Harbour?)Surprise attack- approx. 3000 Americans killed. War declared against Japan the following day. I will now mind my own business

Well, at the moment he probably will. But he did replace Bill Clinton who replaced George Bush Sr who replaced Ronald Reagan who replaced Jimmy Carter who replaced Gerald Ford who replaced Richard Nixon who replaced... And each one was considered the worst president in history... at the time. SO, who knows? The next person might be even worst. Only time and the intelligence of the people voting will tell.

No, because as bad as things are in this country right now, they could get much, much, worse (draft). GW won't go down as the worst, especially when men like Andrew Jackson were responsible for the deaths of thousands of Native Americans. Look in your history books for him, and you'll see a balanced, almost forgiving view of him.

In my opinion, all of these men are crooks. There is no such thing as a "good President", even JFK had skeletons in his closet

it's amazing how quickly people forget the other bad presidents.
Andrew Jackson, the founder of the Democratic Party, ignored a Supreme Court ruling and decided, against the will of the people, to exile Native Americans.
Martin Van Buren, also Democrat, responsible for the Trail of Tears.
Franklin Roosevelt, ignored repeated messages of genocide in Europe. Signed a treaty with Joseph "uncle Joe" Stalin, even as his own cabinet was accused of selling military technology.
