I am really tired of this "he didn't want to scare the children" bull crap. The man is the President of the United States, commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces and supposedly the leader of the free world. He was told the nation was under attack. His number one job is defending the country. So he should have put down the book and said "Well, kids I have just gotten some important news and I will have to go back to my work now, and your teacher will finish the story for you. I really enjoyed reading to you but I'm going have to go now." Those kids all had parents who have jobs and they would have understood that and I see no reason why they would be frightened by him saying what I suggested.
And when you get down to it, what more important, not scaring some kids or doing your freakin' job to defend the country and be the commander-in-chief.
It never ceases to amaze me the amount of slack certain people give Bush when they would all over any democrat who did the things he did or speaks the way he does (all over them like a cheap suit!.)

Bush is evil, I do believe that, but I don't buy into the conspiracy. I've always thought the reason he didn't react immediately when told about the attack on the towers was that he's useless. He's not really the president right now, nor was he ever... Cheney's been calling the shots. They just needed Bush's "country boy" image to win the presidency. Cheney wasn't there to tell him what to do, and without being coached he is inept. All he knew to do was continue what he was doing until someone suggested he take some action. gee, sounds kinda like his reaction to hurricane Katrina. He was warned that a class 4 hurricane was on it's way to the Gulf and that the levees likely would fail before the hurricane even got there, then took action 2 days after Katrina struck. How did he answer the lack of respone? "There was no way we could have known..."
Oh yeah... to Coco... his rating is up a little yes. However it's still the second lowest presidential approval rating in history. Second only to Richard Nixon just prior to his impeachment.

Well if you saw it on the internet, it must be true. How could I ever have doubted? Now that some teenager has told me they saw a video about how Bush orchestrated 9/11, I could not possibly doubt it is true.
HEY EVERYBODY, some teenager, that never did any independent research, just broke the news story of the millenium. Bush was responsible for 9/11. And to think, the answer was in some video (also put together by a bunch of teenagers) on the internet all this time.

OK...keeping it polite for you...I have watched that sequence many, many times. Having been in a similar (not as severe of course) situation, what else could he have done? If he gets up and screams "we're under attack!"...scaring all of the kids...many would be just as upset as you. The person who whispered in his ear told him that further information was forthcoming and he chose to keep things under control until he had all of the facts. After all, he was a possible target and he knew that he was in the safest place of all at that moment...a fully swept, secure location.
Are you one of the folks who got mad that we didn't know "exactly" where he was once he got on the plane? If so, then perhaps you deserve some nastiness in the end.
W isn't necessarily our best president but he's certainly the one I wanted on that day. Not someone who would've knee jerked.
I don't really want to deal with the conspiracy theories because I just can't find them credible in any sense.
Freedom of speech includes the right to have the sense to be quiet when you're off base as well.
[for DinoDino - What good would it have done for him to get up and leave when he didn't have all of the information yet? Hurry up, run out into the hall and stand there instead? There was NO POINT in doing anything at that time other than what he did. Let's change the situation. If he's sitting at lunch with friends, gets the message on the attack but that he needs more info to proceed, does he get up and excuse himself and hang out in the bathroom awaiting details or does he just stay calm and wait?]

Why would the government cover up a conspiracy to blow up the world trade center? I mean come on, the terrorists even claimed responsibility. You're freedom of speech comes very close to slander trying to include our president in a "9/11" conspiracy without any proof whatsoever. Seems like you've been watching too many Michael Moore movies.

Tell it girl. The twin towers thing, I'm not so sure about, but I am so with you on the Bush is evil thing. WW3 right around the corner??? Bush is an idiot, I hope that it is not too late for America to fix all the damage he has done to our country. I love this country and all she stands for, I have never spoken ill of a president, but this one I feel, takes the cake.

To 'Jamie S', President Bush's approval rating is up, do your research before you throw out numbers.
Exactly what did you expect the President to do? He did not know of the attacks ahead of time. Were you in a state of disbelief when you saw and/or heard what happened? The President is human, just like you. He has normal, human responses. Get over it. Obviously, you are the type that over-reacts to anything. Would you rather he scare the hell out of those kids? You are an idiot.

What could he have possibly done at that exact second? He wanted to finish he book for the little kids. People really need to learn to GET OVER IT! Nothing we can do about it now. I am tired of all the paranoid schizophrenics who think the government planned 9-11. I still believe he is doing good job. Guess I'm a moron then.

How are children supposed to stay calm if the adults around them fly off the handle? Had Bush stood up and reacted with fear or anger, what would those kids have thought? If something like that happens around your children, what do you do? Do you freak out? Those kids would have been frightened out of their mids to see the president of this nation get up and run or storm out. He did what any rational human would do-remained calm.
Please-loosen up your tin foil hat & let some of the blood back into your brain.

I have seen the conspiracy video it does make you question it doesn't it. But I like to think that it was Bin Ladin. Just makes more sense to me. But you are very right about us being in trouble. Bush is a tyrant and he is leading our country to WW3. We need to make sure we are loud in our opposition of this administration. We need to regain balance in the house and senate in November. It is the only way we can make any changes before he leaves office.

yea i've seen a bunch of conspiracy theories for 9/11. the main point of the theories didn't revolve around bush's reaction, although that was part of their evidence. a lot of the theories seem to fit what happens perfectly. but i choose not to listen because sometimes a plane crash is just a plane crash. take notice that conspiracists have a theory for every incident so a lot of them are just paranoid. but it's good to see it from another point of view sometimes and maybe the truth will be revealed to all one day.
