I have never exercised, besides hard work in my life....help....I have an average somewhat muscular body but noticed last night for the first time my tummy is disgusting! Are sit ups the only way to get best results? I would like some sort of standing exercise so I can do it at work (would be odd to drop and do 50 while working) I know this sounds strange, but knowing myself I think at work is the only time I will actually motivate myself to do it. Any help is appreciated.

Pilates is great. It's painful but it'll make you look amazing in only a couple weeks. Their videos are short too so it's not a long work out that will eat up your time.

Sit-ups and crunches are the best way to go, but you also have to know how to do them. You have to suck in while doing them. Pull your belly button to your back bone. It stabilizes your core, and keeps you from building out instead of in (which looks horrible). Using a yoga ball to do your crunches also help out ALOT. Also, try to stay away from foods w/fat and sugar. Do cardio atleast 30 min every other day to tone up your lower abs and get rid of the belly fat. Pilates is also awesome at teaching you how to stablize your core, and it legthens your muscles for a long, lean look w/out alot of bulk.

I also use the Cross-Crunch. My mom bought it for me an I didnt think it would work, but its great. And its only about $20.

You can't spot-reduce fat. It'll come off your body when and where it wants to come off, and wherever you have the highest concentration (for me it's my gut), that's where it comes off last. Your best two weapons against fat are diet and exercise. Check out "The Abs Diet" from Rodale press, the publishers of Men's Health magazine (don't worry, it works for women too). It's a common-sense approach to diet and exercise that will help you slim down your midsection quickly and safely.
