there was a big black snake in the road when i was driving home this morning and whenever i se animals in the road like that i pull over to try to get them out of harm's way. i pulled over and a giant denali came barrelling down the road and intentionally ran over this defenseless animal right before my eyes! that is not even the worse part, i went up to it and with it's intestines splattered across the road it's head moved toward me and it's tongue came out; it was still alive. i almost cried the rest of the way home. why are some people so cruel??

First let me commend you on being compassionate towards animals...all animals, snakes included. Being a wildlife rehabilitator, I deal with hit-by-car's on a weekly basis. I question this all the time. Most are truly accidental where the animal runs out in front of the vehicle and there is no time to stop. But then there are others like in your story. My theory is that people don't understand the true value of life, whether it be the snake or anything else. Every animal plays its part in nature.
A word of wisdom if I may...please do not endanger the lives of yourself or others to save an animal. I applaud you for pulling over and not blocking traffic. I have been there when good samaritans have been killed trying to save the life of an animal in distress. I have also had many close calls rescuing animals in regards to traffic.
But then there are the others like you & I that will completely stop traffic in both directions as I'm assisting a snapping turtle that was hit by a car.
Thanks to all of the animal lovers out there. Be safe!! :-)

People are born with a sin nature, because of the fall if Adam and Eve. When a person accepts Jesus as their personal savior, they should grow up. God taught us to treat animals right. Sometimes a person is ignorant and thinks that the only good snake is a dead snake. I'm an animal lover, so I don't even eat meat, fish or poultry.

It is possible that the Denali didn't see the snake. I'm not aware of people intentionally hitting animals, but I guess there are people who do it.
Either way, someone who intentionally hits and kills an animal on the road is a psychopath.

You're in for a rough life if you cry every time something dies. Stop worrying about such pointless things and try to better someone/something that actually matters. That's good you have passion for something, but stop being a hippie and help other people. Personally, I'm going to find an animal and kill it in your name. Lastly, DON'T PULL OVER AND STOP TRAFFIC BECAUSE YOU CARE ABOUT A STUPID SNAKE. That snake wouldn't reciprocate those feelings, so leave it be... ever heard of this guy Darwin? He had it right, so stop sniveling and get back in your car!

certain its unlawful its a lifeless ringer for taking a bat and hitting the animal. The police are going to favor some style of info so he may be prosecuted or its only going to be a waste of a even as telling. i'd nonetheless tell although as a results of the indisputable fact that is extremely incorrect and cruel and he might want to pay for his moves

I don't know and it is cruel. I think people who deliberately hit animals, have now respect for life or themselves honestly. We are not suppose to kill Gods creatures, no matter how ugly, smelling, small, in the road.. or just being a nuisance they are. We shouldn't do that.. but what goes around comes around..I am a big believer in Karma...

Because snakes are evil. Maybe it was a guardian angel driving that denali, and had he not ran over the snake it would have bitten someone. Every think of that, you goofy twit?

OMG that is so sad! I would never try to purposefully run over an animal. I once saw a group of guys in a car who TRIED to run over this black cat. Luckily, the cat leaped onto a tree and out of harm's way.

I have had a variety of different animals, skunk ,raccoon, birds ,cats, red tail boa constrictor, lizards ,turtles, dogs and a squirrel. I loved them all and they were all good pets. They all, at different times, shared the inside of my home. Why people want to kill them is beyond me.It's like they have to run over a coon or a beautiful possum.I had a posse um come up to my back door once and I was able to see her baby clung to her back.Nature is so beautiful and yet we have these assh__s doing there thing.People that torture animals and piss in their pants become serial killers. That's a fact.

I saw the same thing once when a jerk tried to hit a chipmunk. Aaaa but sweet revenge he went over too far and went into a ditch and hit a cement drain thing and broke his wheel nearly off and he missed the chipmunk
